Tie the KD lever back about 1/2 way (rearward) and keep your foot out of it for the short drive to storage.

Or, go grab that bar off of any slant or v-8 powered 904 in the boneyard. You should have gotten a little cube shaped clamp on the end of your Super Six kickdown. This cube clamps tot the kickdown rod and has a peg and that passes through the hole on the transmission kickdown arm. There is a cotter pin that passes through the peg n the cube to hold it on the transmission arm.

Get the right pieces in the long term, but in the short term do what Doc says.

Yup. The cubes were standard starting in the mid to late 60s. I believe the hole in the transmission arm is a different diameter between the clip on style like you have and the cube. I would get the cube and the arm. You will need to pop off the shifter lever from the tranny and then pop off the kickdown lever. Try and find a truck, van, or ramcharger simply for better clearance around the tranny.

The only one I found was from a '79 Diplomat (tranny already removed. Easy pickings), and it fits nicely, but doesn't push the lever all the way back at full throttle. There's probably a 1/32" movement before it hits the rear stop.

Drives and shifts fine as far as I can tell... Can't wait for the electric choke to get here in a few days. Once it's warmed up, the supersix with new Holley 2280 is great so far; no hesitation, instant power and seemed to be tuned pretty close as a bolt on. (it's a 318 spec 2280, so I still have to modify the choke connection)

Big thanks to Reed and the rest :)
