Post subject:  Valve potential

Hey guys, I just took my head to the machine shop, and struck gold. This guy is awesome. He is all about saving me money and teaching at the same time. He is going to let me take my head apart there, blast and bake(clean) it there, and also do the porting and polishing myself there at his shop, and also allow me to trade out labor at his shop as well. We also found out that a ford 4.0 liter intake valve will work as well on the int. side(1.781) and of course 1.500 on the ext. He did want me to ask you guys about the area inside the head between the valve bowls. Is this a water jacket area? The reason I am asking is because we want to put in hardened seats, and we are unsure if there will be problems. We know there will be enough room between the seats but are unsure about the area below the seats I tell you what, it might not seem like a big difference on paper the difference number wise of the stock and aftermarket valves but holding them on top of eachother is a whole different ballpark. Hey charlie, my full intentions are to run a consistent 210hp shot of juice, do you think I should try and go bigger than 1.500 on the exh. side? Let me know what you think. I always take advice from the people you know it better than I do? Thank Jason.

I'm not the guy to ask about valve sizes. All the heads I have run, have been stock, except for polishing the combustion chambers, milling, and valve springs for the cam i am running.

I just had hard seats put into my head(ouch). I'am running 1.75's and 1.5's, no problems.

I don't run hardened seats, I feel they are just one more thing to break.

Hey Charlie, maybe that's why you need bottles and turbos to get your stuff to run? :P  :D :) :o

Hey, Dennis.
You just might be right :D . Any body up to starting a pool, as to how far the the pieces will fly, when I use the turbo and nitrous together?
