Sorry,

One of our best friends son is getting married that weekend.(He grew up with our boys and is almost like our 5th son) So, I will not be able to make it. Micah probably won't be there either. So Ryan and Whitney will need to bring home the money!!

Hey Rick,

Sorry to hear that you won't make it. I was looking forward to finally meeting you. There will be more opportunities.

I'll start a Roll Call on this one:

Lou Madsen (maybe X2)
Dennis Schumers (if he can get the time off)
Wayne, Kenny, John & Mr. Venable (No Slant, just Bench Racin')
Ryan & Whitney Covalt (Representing the whole Covalt Clan)
Greg Ondayko (1 day)
Mr. & Mrs. kentuckyjbird (No Slant :?: )
Rob Simmons (Likely no Slant)

Others I believe will come:

Ron & Kay Hamby
Rodney & Alanna Hargis
Gary & Barbara Bruner
Meril & Ella Bruner
Lukus & Mistie Bruner
Larry & Ellen Chesney
Bob Rogers
Charlie Schmid
Brian Mimken
Gerald Wright (No Slant)

Others I'm still working on getting to come:

James Darby (moparmodeler - '72 RoadRunner w/Slant)
Cody Martin (Central Kentucky Mopar Club - '74 Duster w/Slant)
Anyone else I can think of...

Optimistically, this could be a 15-16 car race. (Okay, it would be VERY optimistic, but I'm just an optimistic kinda guy :D )

I'm gonna dust off my "Clay City Possibles" list I started many months ago and start buggin' people to come.

Me too. But we will meet up somewhere. And maybe we both will be running our cars!! :D

I believe Whitney is planning to drive Lou's Slantkota if he brings it so that gives you another driver.

Andy,

I'll contact the track for some recommendations and post them here. I haven't had the chance to make a "recon" trip over there yet.

Looking forward to meeting you both.

*** BREAK ***

Brian Mimken is a "probably not" for this event. :( He will likely have to work.

"Tentative" Roll Call:

Racers:
1. Lou Madsen (maybe X2)
2. Ryan Covalt
3. Whitney Covalt (driving Slantkoda :?: )
4. Greg Ondayko (1 day)
5. Dennis Schumers :?:
6. Ron & Kay Hamby :?:
7. Rodney & Alanna Hargis :?:
8. Gary & Barbara Bruner :?:
9. Meril & Ella Bruner :?:
10. Lukus & Mistie Bruner :?:
11. Larry & Ellen Chesney :?:
12. Bob Rogers :?:
13. Charlie Schmid :?:
14. James Darby (moparmodeler - '72 RoadRunner w/Slant) :?:
15. Cody Martin (Central Kentucky Mopar Club - '74 Duster w/Slant) :?:

Spectators:
Mr. & Mrs. kentuckyjbird (No Slant )
Rob Simmons (Likely no Slant)
Wayne, Kenny, John & Mr. Venable (No Slant, just Bench Racin')
Gerald Wright (No Slant)

I'll start contacting all the :?: s to confirm and start beating the bushes for more racers.

My lofty goal is to get Clay City back up to the car counts we had in the "Glory Days" where there were 20+ cars battling it out! The biggest car count was in 2002 with 24 cars.

With the exception of 2007 where there was no Clay City race, last year was the lowest car count with only 6. :(

It only takes 9 cars to make it a 40 point race and I think we will have that many. I'd like to have an even dozen this year though.

Getting 17 cars for a 50 point race can be next year's goal... :D

That is a great payout by the track! It sure would be nice to have a large car count for them. I see they list Buy-backs for $20, but we don't allow that do we? Wish I could make it.

Keep up the good work Rob!

We have never done buybacks in the past, and I would rather not start this. However, if the track really wants this (more $$ for them), we could think about it.

Yes, that is a very generous payout, as in the past. They really take care of us at CC....

Come one, come all, and BRING your vehicle to race!

I don't think that would be fair to start something like that unless it is something that was voted on at the banquet. I see they have no buy backs in other classes.

Rob you can count us in for Clay City. We plan on being there. I too hope we can get a good car count for the track. I don't think any other track is quite so generous to us with the purse.

Thanks
Ron and Kay

Hell yes! this is really shapin' up. What amazed me was last year it was advertised that the track needed 18 entries to secure a full purse for a slant six racers. Not even close. they still paid in full. If my memory is still intact Gary wanted to share the purse. This is damn good stuff. 8)

Oooh! SNAP!

The Draft flyer they showed me prior to posting did not have the Buyback and also said 18 car minimum for full payout for the Slant 6 race.

We won't do any Buybacks. I'll talk things over with them and help cover any differences.

I've always heard great stories about this track and my experience last year proved them all right. They are definitely great to work with and I really do think that the Slant 6 folks are their favorites! :D

Thanks Ron! I'm glad you'll be able to make it. How's the converter fix coming along?

Lou, are you good with 2 cars and Whitney driving SlantKoda?

Things are in flux a bit on my end, as far as which rig I'll bring to CC. I may decide to bring the '68 with new mods to reset the D/U record. Keep me as 1 or more for now.

Lou
