What is the rule of thumb gap needed for nitrious?Guzzi Mark
Depends on several variables like the ring type and amount of nitrous you will use, bore size and how far down the top ring is on the piston. Nitrous doesn't like moly rings, it can and will break the coating off of the ring face as the power levels increase and kill the cylinders. I built many 5.0 Mustang engines that competed in NMCA and it wasn't uncommon to have ring gaps as large as .035 in some of the big bore small block nitrous and supercharged engines. But they were using way more than 100 HP of nitrous also. But your gaps do need to be wider when using these type of power adders.

Ilimitado? Illimitée? Unbegrenzt? Mu seigen? Rajoittamaton? Неограниченный?

Yeah, I thought about that after posting it up. Hopefully those wounds will heal up, and we can get the car and driver effected back out to the track. I'll bet it would run a number! :D

My buddy Putzie used to use the Price Fuels nitro additive in his street car. He disregarded the instructions, picked up 3 tenths, and crushed the top ring lands on 6 pistons.

I was chit-chattin' with Howard Davis the other day and he said they got caught with some of that good stuff at one time as well.

He doesn't "do internet" much and was wondering if they still had the 1/4 mile C/Alcohol record. Then asked if Brent Laney still held the B/Alcohol record.

I assured him that both records were still standing.

He grenaded his engine a couple weeks ago at Indy. He's planning to build one more serious Slant 6 with some high dollar schtuff in it. I'll keep tabs on progress and report back.

I will soon have a Putzie-assistance-built motor in my stable... :?:

Would love to see what the Davis' have cookin'! They don't fool around. For reference, I consider myself someone who pretty much fools around...

He threw around a couple key words like CNC and Billet...

He's definitely a "Number Chaser" and not at all interested in going slower to be consistent!

It would have been nice to have both him and Barry Harrison at Clay City this year.

I'll keep workin' on 'em...

The F body died long ago. Last I knew Putzie had a '66 Dart or Valiant, but that was a long time ago.

Putzie was a kid from Florida who I used to spar with on .com. We met up at Clay City one year. Had lots of fun.
