I must make some corrections. When I responded I was on coffee break at work, so I was working from memory and I do not remember as well as I did once upon a time. I must be getting old... but I suppose that beats the alternative. Anyway the max lbs/min should read 45.6, not 47.5 and that takes place at 2.55 p/r not 2.4. The HP numbers remain the same but these numbers are theoretical and must be supported by dyno and drag strip results. That will have to wait until spring when I start driving the beast again. Is that RWHP or crank HP? I am at around 1.7 pr now, and it is getting wild. I will limit mine to 2.0 pr. No intercooler yet, but AEM meth/H2O injection in progress. My goal is 350-400 crank HP and totally streetable, durable, and 25 MPG in a 3300 lb 68 Dart. 300 crank HP tested on 1.6 pr. Lou |

That is flywheel HP and only theoretical at this time. You are right about the ride getting wild...fun isn't it? Your HP goal is realistic. Keep it together, Ken |

lou, Some more info that I should have included. My HP numbers will differ from yours since I am using propane fuel and the BTU/lb is less therfore I have to put more lb/min through the engine to achieve same HP. I decided to use propane due to fuel cost ( half of gas price here ) and ability to have much higher static comp ratio ( 9.8 :1 ) and still run high boost pressure. So far I think I made the right choice. I would like to here more about your project. Ken |

Actually, propane has more energy than gasoline on a mass basis - 19,900 BTU/lb vs 18,676 BTU/lb, LHV. It just has a lower density so, on a volume basis, a gallon (or litre) of propane has about 74% of the energy of a gallon of gasoline.http://www.afdc.energy.gov/afdc/pdfs/fueltable.pdf Interestingly, natural gas has even more energy (20,263 BTU/lb) than propane but natural gas is often quoted as having about 1000 BTU/ft³ which throws many people off. |
