Progress!! Took the bolts out of the rocker shaft and got a bottle type brush in there(large tube brush for cleaning tattoo tubes) , got some crusty stuff out. I now have what looks like sufficient flow to the rockers. Found a leaky vacuum line at the "air cleaner vacuum tube" replaced it, and this has made an improvement(it was stiff and cracky which I think was getting worse as I repeatedly pulled and replace the air intake) Ted I have been pouring over the "Holley 1920 air bleed/idle transfer slot mods" thread and realized this is an adjustment I have over looked. The 1920 I have has a large idle air bleed with an adjustment screw on the side. This thing was wide open, probably 3 full turns out. I just now readjusted it to one turn out, and the idle mixture to 4.5. I'll have to mess with the idle more when I can check the Rpms. Improvement in transition from idle to main circuit, Still some "miss" and or roughness at idle, though it is muuuch better now!! |
