If you were closer to Tacoma I would give you a good core early 70s head and recommend that you take your head to Bud's Machine and Engine in Lakewood.
Much appreciated Reed, but it is a bit far... plus I already have a head that is in fairly good condition.

It seems the machinist I've found is not so good? Right now I'm using a local NAPA's in-house machinist, by recommendation of a few guys in the area. Although I'm not sure they are all that well equip and contract some of the work out to others.

So, can anybody recommend a good (hopefully inexpensive) machinist that is north of Seattle? I do find myself in Seattle fairly regularly so dropping off a head wouldn't be a big deal, but I'm not really interested in traveling further than that. If nobody has a recommendation, then maybe some tips on finding a good machinist?

A machinest isn't necessarily a head porter.
