Guzzi Mark called me this morning to report on the test and tune session Friday night. Conditions were favorable and Mark set a new A/nitrous record at 10.90 then added weight to get into B class and increased the nitrous shot from 60 to 90 and lowered that record to 10.69. Today he will go back to A and try it with the 90 shot. His 60' time on the 10.69 run was 1.45 with a 6.68 eigth mile, the top end was 122MPH at 6700RPM even with his new 4.10 gears! Those are some pretty stout times, congratulations to Mark. |

Mark called again today. PJ won Saturday's race in a borrowed stocker. Mark went 10.57 to set a new record in A/Nitrous. Apparently his B/Nitrous record is 10.59 not .69. 9 cars Saturday, 8 today. You have to be impressed with the performance of that Aussie head gasket! I used to think you needed o-rings and a copper gasket for high compression, maybe not. |

Wow... what a weekend! Allen and I made it home by 11:30 last night... The only "drama" was that the 66 Wagon / Toad towing combo, did not want to display it's tail lights (running lights) when we safety- checked before leaving the track at 8:30 PM. 30 minutes later, we had a "hot wire" feeding that circuit and were on the road, headed home. A Big Thanks to Edd J., PJ, Bruce & Wendy P. for hosting this race and putting-up with the Dutra "squatters" that pitched camp on their pit spaces... right at the finish line. Yes, all the SL6 KillerBee racers were well packed into a small space at this event, because it was a BIG national points race for NRHA. Lots of racers & fast cars blasting by, all weekend long. Super fun to watch Guzzi Mark running mid 10 second passes, like "clock-work". All the spectators also like that! It was nice to see Allen get to the final on both days... he has had a long "dry spell" as far as winning rounds go and it looks like he shook that off. It was also great to get a "father vs son" final with him. We have talked about that for years and it happened this weekend... and "the old man" won it ! I also made great progress getting the new K1 engine in the Lancer to "settle-down". I did change-out the Fat-Pak after Las Vegas and went back to my divided plenum H-Pak intake... Standing start, full throttle "hits" are back and so are the 1.8xx 60 ft times. (with no spray) I still had all kinds of missing, popping and inconsistant on Saturday so we changed the spark plugs and found 2 that had super-wide gaps. The car ran a whole bunch better with a correctly gapped set of new plugs! This new engine still "hits-a-wall" at 6000 RPM, like it's floating the valves or bouncing the points in the distributor. (I know... get rid of the points... Anyway... another fun week-end of SL6 racing. DD |

Congrats on the win Doug! But you were not the first father son Final. My youngest son Micah and I faced off at Elk Creek last year. And guess what? The old man won there too! I guess we still have it! If we could just remember where we put it!!! Rick PS It really is cool racing with your kids! |

Yes, congrats to Doug and to Allan as well who ran a great race against me to push me out of the competition. Great weekend all around with lots of great conversation. I would congrat Mark but I have a rule about congratulating anyone with teeth on the front of their car. |
