Hey Bill, you took Charlie all wrong. He was just doing a little good natured teasing. That's all. He is 70 also, and has to watch every dime to be able to race with us too.

You keep plugging away at your machine, and I feel certain you will get to one of our races sometime in the future! :D

Charlie doesn't have deep pockets, they just have holes in them  . He is just able to make a dollar stretch real far and just trying to encourage you im sure.
He does a whole lot with what he DOES have to spend! He has my admiration, for sure!!!

He's been a lot of help to us in the building of this anomaly we are fooling with. He got us a head gasket we really needed... He's A-1 on my book.

He'd probably just outrun us if we DID find the money to go...

Oh well...

Rick,

I was just teasing, too... Charlie has helped us on more than one occasion, and I'm mighty impressed with his cars!

I think he knows that you can't take much of what I say seriously.... after all, I'm trying to go fast with a slant six, am I not??? lol!

Thanks for the response!

Maybe not, but he's a lot younger than ~I~ am!

Three years is a L-O-N-G T-I-M-E!!!

If you don't think three years is a long time, try holding your breath for three years...

Traveled the 35 miles to the place where the Valiant is located (partner Freddie's garage) and worked on the fuel system, today. The supply hose (3/8" aluminum tubing,) was already plumbed to the regulator, as was the return line, so all the work to be done was in the trunk. Got the fuel cell hooked to the first filter, the filter plumbed to the Walbro pump, and the pump connected to the line forward to the regulator. Still have to install filter #2 (after the pump) for addditional care with what's delivered to the carb. If I can get down there tomorrow, we'll start on the wiring; relays, fuses, switch panels, gauges, etc.

Wish me luck (and, strength!)

That fuel system was a sticking point, for some reason. I'm glad it's all but done! I'll add some pictures of it (not much to be proud of...) to my Flickr photo page, soon. http://www.flickr.com/photos/billdedman/

Baby steps....

I just got an idea, why don't us more than 70 year old people who still play with toy cars & trucks start a list of our names. That way the young kids can see how many of their oldsters are still in the game.

On a seperate new social topic !

Boy, Bill, You scared me with your response, to my post. I had thought you misunderstood, I was just ribbing you.
Keep plugging away at your project. Why not try putting away a little money from time to time (like I do), into a slant six race fund. That way you might be able to make just one race, and meet some of the site members in person, and show off your car. I try to do one race per year, and then see if there is enough extra money, to do more.
