I don't know if they are still available, but I used to have a "Fairbanks" manual valve body with a "low gear safety feature". This applied the low band in 1st gear. Fairbanks is no longer in business, but there were other companies that had them available.

Thanks for the additional info, Charlie and Dennis. Looks like the Cheetah is out, and I will look around for a MVB with low band apply.

Chirp!

Post subject:  Transpak, etc.

My Jeg's catalog lists the B&M Transpak for the A-904 with 6 cyl 1966-77 as part # 130-10228 for $51.99. It says it's the shift improver kit with additional driver manual control. The tech guy couldn't really answer if it is reverse or forward pattern and/or if it applies the band for 2-1 downshift. It's about $84 cheaper than the Cheetah reverse valve body. They aren't all that scary inside. I can probably do this. Summit's catalog has the Transpak for .04c cheaper, but the tech help wasn't any better. Sorry that isn't much help. Maybe a call to B&M, etc is needed.

What you will have is simply a good shift kit. You will still have to use the K-D linkage, it will be forward pattern, and it will still shift itself in drive.

The main reason I went full manual was to get rid of the KD linkage, and the fact that I'm nuts.

Post subject:  Kickdown Linkage

That's what I need since I don't have a kickdown. I thought if it was manual it deleted the need for the kickdown. So it would appear that I need the valve body itself rather than just a kit to modify mine(?). Thanks again. Rob

Hmmm, my bros '68 Dart 318 had a manual kit in it from about 15-20 years ago (I think BM), and it had no kickdown and you had to shift it manually. It had really hard upshifts, but the 2-3 downshift was slippery.
