Slanted FED, you are my new hero! Can you divulge any details on the engine? Yes, please keep us updated on the progress. |

There is Alcohol involved, but the other kind Sandy! ![]() I'll be at Woodburn Lou, just need to dump last year's gas out of the Hooptie, and scrub out the carburetor. Even race fuel shouldn't be left to sit... eww. The engine build and most updates are confined to the first post in this thread. It'll either go fast, or go poof. We'll find out which. ![]() ![]() CJ |

I just looked at your posts, I am very impressed. The crank looks to be a piece of art. Did you have previous experience with crank issues? And your lead in could be written by me with these changes: "Probably better start a thread on the FED. If I'm lucky, it will be done in time for my retirement. Laughing" Building a 71 Colt, If I'm lucky it will be done before I die. Good luck with the build. |

Haven't looked on here for a while. Sorry about that. Rick, the plate is used to positively locate the manifold, and gives us a location to install the bungs for the injectors. The exhaust also locates on the plate. The billet crank, caps and girdle are there in the hopes of withstanding the rigors of repeated high power romps down the dragstrip. In talking with Doc, the slant six forged crank becomes suspect around 500 HP. Lot's of nifty parts, so far not finished. Perhaps next year... CJ |

Time to rebuild the thread... The manifold is completed. There will be a brace to the block once the head pipes are done. Attachment:

We've got a long way to go before a road trip. Still working on the timing cover/pump drive setup. Once that's done, I can think about getting a tune on this thing that doesn't put the crankshaft all over the burnout box. I haven't licensed yet either. If the engine doesn't grenade, and I don't soil myself at the hit, we'll start working on the road trips! ![]() CJ |
