I guess that's about it...

Unless you know Jerry's last name for the record.

Might it be Keltner? He raced at Vegas last year...

Hi Slant-Sixers,

Here are the results of the Slant-6 races at "Mopars at the Strip" held in Las
Vegas on Sunday, April 13. We started out with five Slant-6 cars at the event.
All five cars participated Friday and Saturday for the "test and tune" runs; in
fact we got to make some extra passes because the other classes were able to get
done sooner (the number of cars participating was not as good as in past years).
Unfortunately, for the Sunday races, we lost Jerry Keltner's car when the
transmission seal failed.

The weather for Friday and Saturday was beautiful, just a slight breeze and warm
(sunscreen was required). On Sunday the wind was "blowing a storm", starting at
sunup and lasting for the whole day. It was a headwind for the races; I don't
know the speed but it was strong enough that the flags were flying straight out.
Romeo and Andrew had to re-run because the wind blew some debris across the
staging sensors and "red-lighted" Romeo just as they were starting.

Since there were only four cars in the Slant-6 class, we only needed three runs
to determine the winner. The first round (two semi-final runs) were run around
noon, with Romeo Furio and Scott Jones advancing to the final. The final was
run at 5pm, which was a bit of a wait. We spent the time visiting and "working"
the swap meet. I think the logic behind this was to delay us until all the
final rounds for all classes could be run together. By the time the finals
rolled around, most of the fans (and the eliminated racers) had gone home!

Randy Jones.

The ladder was as follows:

FIRST ROUND:

Scott Jones 717
Mike Keller 817M

Romeo Furio 4691
Andrew Howard 513

SECOND ROUND (final)

Scott Jones 717
Romeo Furio 4691

Scott Jones won the class (third year in a row!)

Thanks Randy!

Great run down. I edited the 2014 Championship thread with some better color commentary. http://slantsix.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=54906

Do you recall what ETs and car models folks were running?

Sorry about the low turn out and the windy conditions. Vegas is known for wind if I recall.

I drug my wife and two sons (Chase was only 2 months old) to the inaugural Pacific Mopar Nationals in 1996. OMG was it hot and nasty in August!! She still reminds me how supportive she was to go to that...

Romeo was in a 64 Dart.
Mike was in a 71 Demon.
Andrew was in a 62(?) Valiant.
Scott was in a 62(?) Lancer.
Rob was in a 73/74(?) Duster.

Romeo & Mike are definates. Years are in question on the other 3.
