I fabricated a pinion snubber, replaced my leaf springs and installed a drive line loop. And the slick are in the trunk. We'll find out how it all works this Saturday at PIR. Thanks again for the feedback and keeping me track legal! B |

What size slicks did you get? Wheels? Pictures? I'll be missing PIR on Saturday as I'll be camping. Otherwise I'd line up against you and see how our cars compare. Good luck! |

The slicks are Hoosier 26 * 9 - 15 on 15 * 7 cop car wheels. We would like to come to Woodburn, but don't think we'll be up early after our friends big 4th of July party. But we should be there for the Mopar Nationals. Photo's to come. And We're thinking about taking the slicks out of the trunk. B |

Well, Olga ran the Valiant yesterday with the slicks and the 60 foot and 1/8 mile times were unchanged from the passes she made with street tires. Hmm? She did the burnout and the tires are at 15 psi. I watched her launch and there was no hook-up and no sign of weight transfer. Just a slow take off with the wheels moving faster than the car... I am guessing that we need to start mildly and feather the throttle up as we begin our launch? And maybe I should make some passes myself, which will be my first drag racing as well. The power curve of this car is a table top from 2000 to 5000+ rpm the dyno shows 230 hp and nearly 300 foot pounds of torque. It might be more now that we have improved the fuel map? I didn't consider racing when I started this project, but as everything progressed and I have learned from many hours on this site is that the only way to quantify your engineering is the track and the dyno. And yes the challenge is really fun! I will post a video shortly, B |

Hi folks, I too was a bit disappointed with yesterday's race. Barnaby and I have watched the video several times now and we can see that the wheels really do spin in place while I take off like a granny pulling out of a parking lot. Take a look if you can, your feedback is appreciated. Here's the link to the video: http://youtu.be/I14AMyTNr5k See ya'll at the MOPAR Nationals in Woodburn! -Slant Widow |

Take the pressure down to 13# or even to 11# at the minimum. Richard |

As we talked about Barnaby, leaving on boost will blow the tires off. Try leaving on the engine. Once you put heat in the wheel, it will take over! CJ |

Is the car trying to lift the nose at all at the hit? With slicks you should be able to leave on boost. |

We did some lap top tuning today and also some clandestine launches. Our new strategy will be to rev the engine up to 2000 for launch and feather up on the threshold of traction. |

You may want to go back to your old springs and maybe no pinion snubber with just the slicks and try that. The slicks alone should have made a big difference. Ryan Peterson has run mid 10s with slicks about that size in a similar car, although not drag radials. He leaves the line around 15-20 psi and the whole car looks like it's crouching to attack. The tires get hit really hard, and hold. Hmmm. Lou |

Well, it is PIR. It'll be interesting to see how your car leaves on a well prepped track. CJ |

Thanks, I'm not sure the slicks would clear with the old springs. They were 5 leaf, but very tired. It certainly had weight transfer... Passing under boost made the car appear to have hydraulics. Good idea on running it without the snubber. At least we can see if is trying to lean back. And no the nose dose not lift on the track. We are brand new at this racing thing, but I've been told that PIR is a slippery tack. I played "responsibly" with the car on back-roads yesterday with street tires and had much better launches and some weight transfer. Hope to have it to Woodburn for the Mopar Nationals on Sunday, and would like to make Samoa one of these times... We have a work related event this Saturday and It will be difficult just to make it to Woodburn... Cheers, B |
