$250 is a bit steep, unless the carb is in good working order. At least the carb appears to be a correct slant six BBD. I don't see the Super Six specific choke thermostat or throttle return spring bracket or kickdown linkage. He can keep the distributor and the exhaust manifold (unless you want an extra exhaust manifold or yours is damaged).

For those parts I think that $150 plus shipping is more in line.

I paid $150 alone for my supersix intake, and was only lucky enough to get the air cleaner for free. You pay about $10 to get the reproduction sticker, and the carbs come up a lot for $20ish. The kickdown is the setback, usually people want $100-$150 for that. You don't need the exhaust manifold.

Kickdown = cable style kickdown (less than $30 on eBay)
Air cleaner = stock 318 two barrel air clenaer (should be piles of them at swap meets and junkyards) + reproduction sticker

He is offering for the air cleaner, carb (supposdly rebuilt) and intake 250 plus shipping, you think it is a fair price? I have no idea what stuff is worth.
In my opinion saying the carb is re-built and selling it as a re-built carb means nothing. I always assume the carb has to be re-built again and unless you can hear an engine running with that carb installed than I would assume the same.

If you are planning to run A/C than keep in mind that there is a special air cleaner with an A/C provision molded into it on the bottom of the air cleaner base and you will need this specific cleaner if A/C is in your future.

I think 250 is high, I would pay 175-200 if I still needed those parts cause at least you get a few keys parts all in one swoop.

Where can I get a carb for 20 ish. I would like some spare to play around with and for parts?

Ill assume E-bay but what would be the search words I would use?

I must have misunderstood a previous post you had made. I thought the air inlet was a different shape on the slant air cleaner versus the 318 cleaner.

I know he prob. does not care about this but can you re-fresh my memory?

Ok thanks for the advice, I guess if he doesn't come down on price I would probably skip.

I not planning on putting a/c in the future but that is a great thing to know, Im really just trying to find an easy way to get a little more fun out of this engine. Really want to keep the Challenger a slant 6 so I figure this is a kind of cheap way to do it.

Not ebay. People think their Carter BBD's are made of gold on Ebay. Check here in the wanted section, or Fabo. Whitepunkonnitro on that site has a few I think.

There is no functional difference between the air cleaner for a two barrel 318 and the air cleaner for a two barrel slant six. Just make sure you get one with the bump in the front for AC if you have AC.

I hear ya but as long as he is looking he may as well be looking for as close to correct as possible.

I believe the difference was that the correct super six cleaner had the round end on the air inlet and the 318 was more rectangular ( I believe that is what you told me earlier ) but I may be off.

Look in the parts for sale section. Super six set-up, $200.
AS far as a cleaner base goes, Mine is from a 67 Belvedere. Got lucky. And the super six lid fits nicely.
