Justin, to see any REAL benefit to a smaller bearing giving less bearing drag and more HP, you'd have to go to .100 OS and buzz the motor to 9000rpm. I only want to grind a crank as much as it takes to clean it up. All the side benefits to smaller journals are so small you'd never be able to notice them on most slant six build ups. One exception will be offset grinding the crank to the biggest OS bearing available (.040?). This will add .040 to the stroke, if you have a good rod journal to start with, and will give increase compression the same as milling .020 off the block. You'll get 2 more HP out of a near stock 225. Cecil |
