Got my UEGO, going on my truck, first. Had a thought, truck has all emission controls onboard and working. Will the air injection system effect the O2 readings?
88 D-150 360 4bbl. No computer, factory O2, or feedback carb. Does have Cat converter.

Yes, absolutely.

Where is the air injected?

If you're before the injection, it will work correctly (except at low rpm where you might get some backflow)

Otherwise you need to cap it off (might get some air sucked thru if only belt removed)

Air is injected at the rear of the head. Kind of thought it would skew the AFR readings. Easy enough to remove the rubber hose at he pump and cap the tube, while I'm testing. Thanks

How do new cars do this then, with O2 sensor readings? I guess they have correction factors or something...

Air injected before O2 sensor would only be during open loop mode (usually just warm up to get cat hot quick)

Then it would be injected after sensor during closed loop.

They're also using electric pumps that are shut off when not needed.

My 88 diplomat with a 318 lean burn, has a O2 sensor on the driver side exhaust manifold, right near the number 5 exhaust port. It also has the exact same air injection system, into the rear of the cyl head. I have removed the LB system, and use the O2 sensor to feed a narrow band gauge. After warm up, and light throttle cruise, the gauge goes so lean, it is off scale (whatever scale is). Just has LED bars of different colors. I think, the next chance I get, I will disable the AIR system, and see what if, any difference it makes in the readings.
