I got my harmonic balancer back yesterday from Damper Doctor, and it looks great! I sent the pulley with it, not sure if that was necessary, but they repainted it and bolted it on with new bolts, in addition to rebuilding the balancer of course. Getting closer... |

Okay, so timing chain and sprockets. Is there anything that goes on under the sprockets? |

Not under the sprockets, but you can add the oil slinger and don't forget the new crank snout seal in the timing cover. |

Ok, so, is the oil slinger critical? If it is, will an oil slinger from a 318 work? Its been a while, not sure where the oil slinger from the slant is. I do have a 318 with the timing cover off. |

Oil slinger is not real critical. Many engines have gone together without one. A 318 one will work, and it does make life a little easier on the front seal. |

Ok, so I removed the harmonic balancer from a used slant in my garage, and the timing chain cover. Lo and behold, there was no oil slinger. So... |
