Looks like some kind of weird home brew automatic with a manual overdrive. Like maybe an old Warn overdrive?

Do you have any other views? All I can tell, is it is 727 based.

Nope, it is 100% factory (Mopar factory, that is) produced. I'll tell you since the suspense is killing me, lol. It's exactly what very, very few people want - a factory UNDERdrive. That's right, for all those times you don't want to be able to cruise at more than 45MPH... Used in garbage trucks, dump trucks, and other slow moving rigs that need all the help they can get getting moving. Even in 3rd gear, you never reach 1:1. Notice how beefy it gets on the back side....that's cuz it's multiplying torque and, unlike a dainty overdrive, needs to get bigger as a result. |

Interesting. I know Chrysler put the slant six in the big commercial trucks, the big five and up ton trucks. |
