Hey, I like that...that is a GREAT idea! So simple, but it would register the hood exactly where it was, I might actually consider that... Just to be sure, three holes, not inline, a triangle configuration, would be best. If the holes are precisely cut, i.e. clean sidewalls, and the drill bit or whatever pin you use has a snug fit, that would be a perfect realignment tool. Anyone else done this? Great stuff, thanks. Yep. Done it with my race car hood and trunk lids since they get remove a good bit more often. Two 1/8" rods in each hinge and it works like a charm. |

Nice, Rick, great stuff... Any pics or tips on your placement, pin choice or whatever? Brian |

https://www.slantsix.org/forum/viewtopi ... ns#p503753 Close the bottom of the page is a picture. Mine are in the aluminum brackets I made and they are just 1/8" steel rod I got at the hardware store. I keep 4 small pieces in the glove box for safe keeping. The body shop guy that painted my car has been drilling alignment holes in the hoods like that for years. |

Cut the upper radiator support and remove that and the hood latch support. Remove grill. Remove engine and transmission. Installation is the reverse. Make sure you bolt that part of the radiator support back in. It does add support for the front of the car. I first did this 47 years ago with my first BBM into an A-Body. |

cutting the radiator support seems way more extreme than removing the hood...just saying.... |
