Awesome Duster! Clean engine compartment nice details. Does Carter or Edelbrock make that carb today? Where did you find that sticker?

Gee, "tanks".....

Ask anyone that knows me... I have the world's cleanest junk! I tried having nice cars once, but I've kinda settled in on them all being beaters at some level. Still, I'd like to do away with the Oldsmo Green on this Duster once and for all (compliments of it's previous and original owner, may he rest in peace) and go back to the slime green it had at birth... Too many projects for one me.

Negative on the carb. Check out some old posts that I responded to on the subject for some specifics, if you'd like. Basically, the smallest you can get from Carter/Edelbrock (same difference, both manufactured by Weber) is the 500CFM unit.

I converted the sticker from a stack of "Yeah, it's got a hemi" stickers that my buddy at the Dodge place gave me. How'd I get the "X"? I'm not giving away ALL my secrets! Funny thing is, I put some "Hemi" stickers on Kermit, my '72 Valiant (see related post), and you'd never believe all the pimply-faced kids that roll up to me and ask me all about the hemi lurking under the hood... At least they understand a hemi is cool, I gotta give 'em that! They get real disappointed when I tell them it's a slant six, so they still got some learnin' to do...

Post subject:  Update

The SDS Duster has run it's all time best 15.586 ET in a race lost against Charlie S's Barracuda @ Reynolds... That was on a 16.00 dial  (best I could do up to that was a string of 16.2somethings) which proves that although I suck at bracket racing, I can build an "all motor", mild cam, normally aspirated /6 that turns respectable times :D (it usually runs pretty consistently between 15.7 - 15.9)

I need to get back on the project (haven't made any changes in years)and swap in a looser converter and see what happens. As reported before, those 60' times (2.34 best) leave a lot to be desired...

Oh, by the way, I too offer my condolences in the loss of the Drake car (and also congratulations on the incredible times it posted before the incident)... At least it met its demise while in action, racing. Glad nobody was hurt.

DW, your car runs well. Had fun, and was good to see you again. To bad Rob had the bent pushrods. That final run against Matt was wierd. I'm used to geting the head start, not giving a 7 sec start to the other car. Hope we can do it again, sometime.
PS> I did get into the 13's on Sunday. 1st round, red light, 13.84

OK, here goes nuttin'...

I've got the itch to add another relic to my wonderful collection of regularly driven junk cars. The stable is full (overflowing, actually) and I need to liquidate at least one fine Mopar example before I can justify aquiring another. The S/D six Duster is up for consideration. Nothing certain yet, but I admit that I rarely drive it much anymore, it has been successful as far as what I set out to do, but really needs someone's undivided attention and further development. My plans have been to fix a little rust here and there and have the car returned to its lime green original color. I want to add a "Twisteresque" look to it by adding side stripes, strobe stripes to the hood, super-big-$$$-overpriced-because-of-eBay-used "ralley" mirrors, and a rear wing. I may yet, at some undetermined date, accomplish those things... but if someone else were to share my vision (or at least would lie and say they do  ), I am entertaining offers for the S/D six Duster. I'm not big-time trying to sell, but if someone is interested and says the magic #, I may be compelled to surrender the keys. No easy feat, this is the one I've held onto the longest (17 years), not my first, but a lot of memories. An interested person would get a turn-key, daily driveable /6 car that turns certified mid-15's and has potential for a fair amount more with a few basic changes and a little more tweaking.

So, any offers :?:

Dennis, I read through the post but didn't see a mention of the air cleaner. What car is that off of? I'm guessing a 360 engined late 70's something. And BTW, great looking engine!

That is one _clean_ and seriously full engine bay. What a beautiful engine sitting in an equally beautiful car...

Just thought i'd set this Nitrous Oxide thing straight... So many myths out there after all this bloody fast and the furious crap.

On your first post, you mentioned nitrous oxide and then put NO2.
The chemial formula for nitrous oxide is actually N2O.
(very easy to confuse, it took me a while to get it right myself).
NO2 is Nitrogen dioxide and is a poisonous gas which is actually generated in small quantities in exhaust fumes! :)

Details, details, details. I don't care what it's called, as long as it goes fast  :P

It's got neither Nitrous Oxide nor Nitrogen Dioxide!

I wasn't Nitrous when Nitrous wasn't cool.

Thanks for straightening me out, as long as I'm not calling it "noss" I feel OK, though...

heh, there are so many people who've got it screwed up.....
I read a "two wheels" magazine (big australian motorcycling mag.) a coupla' days ago, even they had it written as NO2!
But hey, like Charrlie wrote, that gas still gets cars spanking along...
no matter what you call it!
