Using GM parts is nice. They will be making that stuff longer the \6 parts. The cap and rotor look like GM 2.8 V6 stuff from the mid '80s. All GM 60* V6s are even fire. The late GM inline 6's had the coil mounted in the distributor cap, so the cap would hit the block.

The next step would be to engineer a HEI drop in replacement for the stock ECU.

I am actually (still) hoping to put together a slant six MPEFI system based on Ford's early 90s setup. The beauty of the system is that is all triggered of of a hall sensor in the distributor and a stock Ford 300 distributor can be machined to work in a slant six block and can run slant six plug wires. Further, this efi system was used with a distributorless ignition system that uses a little sensor in place of the whole distributor, so if distrubutorless ignition is your bag, you can do that, too.

That is my 2ยข about using parts intended for vehicles made in this century.
The Ford EEC IV and EEC V were built here in Seguin, Texas by Motorola. This is a well understood system. You should replace the capacitors. Repurposed OEM controllers can be a good choice
