are you actually spuing coolant? If not I doubt you are actually running hot. like others have said you can't trust the gauge especially after installing a rebuilt engine. are you using the sending unit that came on your block from the factory? you said it had a 7# cap before, why did you change it to a 13#cap? Also what kind of mixture are you running? more water in the mixture will help things run a little cooler. I found the stock sending unit from my 70 Valiant would you like to try it? |

I'm gonna stick my neck out here and say again that I think it's not really overheating, at least not anywhere near as bad as the stock gauge says. It'll be interesting to see if I'm right when it's all figured out. |

Highest temp taken where the sending unit guage goes is 219 degrees. Antifreeze-water mix is at 50-50. Well see how it all goes after I take it in to the garage. I found a 22" radiator with shroud and 7 blade fan which I might get recored depending on what they find. Thanks for everyone's help. Tom |

Does this engine have a head gasket that requires a re-torquing after the initial break-in? |
