| Post subject: | not capable of powering a land barge? |
Quote: I once installed a 225 1barrell into my old mans 70 Cadillac Fleetwood Broughm...Worked fine until I realized that she topped out at about 30mph!!!
Oh, I dunno about that. I gained a lot of respect for the Slant 6 engine when I saw one under the hood of a 67 Plymouth Fury III land yacht. (!)Then, knowing that my uncle ordered his 77 Van with a slant 6 and OD, I mentioned to him how impressed I was, and he added his own story of the day he gained respect... when he saw a Slant 6 powering a dump truck. (!) I wish I'd seen that. - Erik |

I've actually been more intersted in sticking a modern smaller but high horsepower engine in the Dart(toying, no plans on doing it, just fun to think about). Better gas mileage and emissions, better acceleration, probably less reliability, plus I like my slant too much to do that to my car. That 318 seems like it might fit into a Talon easier if converting to RWD, it's shorter. The slant six is a bit long, I find it intersting that half my engine compartments almost empty since I took the AC out, yet there's still not enough room to stick a normal sized electric fan center on the radiator... lots of room for a turbo though |

ShivaDart, you aren't the only one with such perverted fantasies. I've thought about sticking a 2.2 Turbo or the new 2.4 Turbo from the Neon SRT-4 under the hood of a Duster. I'm pretty sure I could get one of these to weigh under 2,500 lbs, and make over 300 hp. Then I'd paint it to look like a late '60s / early '70s Super Stocker, and take this piece of faux nostalgia to import drag racing events to see how many people I could annoy. |

That be interesting, ricer engine with muscle car body. Really annoy them by sticking a huge, super tacky aluminum wing and one of thos horrible sounding tin cans on you exhuast. No one would say you didn't have a sense of humor. |
