My sons left for Alberta yesterday with the Suburban pulling a loaded 24ft trailer. They burn about 100 us gallons a day (1000 ) miles. Thats expensive....except they also EAT (age 19 + 21) $2. 35us for a US gallon here. Daily cost ....just south of $300us a day.,,,exclusive of wages

 (For lack of a "nice" way to put it. In 4 years of owning my 90 Dakota, I have NEVER spent $30 on 1 tankful of gas, even when I put the occasional tank of high test in it. And no, that $30 was the cheapest station/grade I saw; $2.08/gal! Its pathetic when we are held prisoner because of not being able to afford the gas! I havent filled the Diplomat in at least 2 months; $10 here/$15 there. (Its for sale, by the way!) You thgink that anyone would think of admitting gouging?? The government is loving it, as at least 1/2 is going to their pockets! (taxes).Think they would squeal on such a huge cash cow?>??? NOT!

Down here in the middle of nowhere, GA gas is about $1.80 for the cheap stuff. I don't know why they sell this stuff, because nothing will run on this stuff except for lawnmowers. The Duster loses all of its power and driveability and if you put in my truck it burns it so fast that the gas gauge can't keep up. The Duster gets @ 15 MPG (bad), the truck gets @10 MPG on the highway (really bad) and @ 3-4 MPG smoking Chevys (horrific). I guess I will have to slow my butt down to 70 :D

Here in Va Beach, Va, we pay about the same as San Diego. This is along the line of Freight and Delivery charges on a new vehicle. Supposedly everyone pays the same.

By the way, at current usage, the "current" world crude supply will "begin" to deplete around 2026. Don't let the issue sink in too hard.
"Current" and "known" are two different entities and the industry plays those cards well. Ask any Geologist that has looked at this and they will tell you it's darn near everywhere. So happens that it's easier to get to in some places than others. So, go ahead and blame who you like, but, sad fact is, we all contribute to this. The only solution is a real opposite of what we are doing now. This is called a paradigm shift and has nothing to do column or floor mount. My eldest daughter rides formal english dressage and says horseback riding is GREAT. My youngest daughter and I prefer the horses under a hood. My wife says she doesn't care, yet, I'm sure she hasn't experienced "used oat" exhaust while in a carraige.

In summation, whether your paying "freight and delivery", gas or milk, Tom Drake said it well (and shorter), just about everything is becoming a HOLY COW, but, this time it milks us

In Holland we pay something like $1.40 per liter, there are 4.405 liters in a gallon according to a convertor-site on the internet, but I would think 3.8L is more like it. So say, $5.30 for a gallon? There the reason I also run on propane! (aprox. $0.50 p/L)

(A liter of milk cost us aprox. $1.-, but the car doesn't drink it. We've got lot's of those black and white animals over here though. )

If you didn't know this.....

Back when the Dodge Power Wagon was a mainstay to our Department of the Army, there was a monster called the 6X6. This monstrosity was diesel, but, could run on peanut oil. Even if we could do that now (it's not the same type engine found in passenger cars), have you seen the price on that in the stores?

I think '65 Dutch Dart has something to copy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not all 6-by's were diesel. I have a few hours behind the wheel of the gas-powered version. That occurred back in the 60's.

I was just pointing out the diesel model as a reference.. I've driven both. Though, I never did any wheel time with peanut oil. The diesel was definetely more of a brute, but, the gas was a bit more convenient. :)
