I don't know if a spool is available, but I used an Air locker and I know that a lot of off road people use those axles so there certainly should be !

Check on e-bay, there's tons of parts for 8.8 .
The explorer and f 150 8.8s use 31 spline axles and a larger cross pin as opposed to pass car 28 spline. These are very strong rear ends. They are a popular swap into Jeeps because they're much stonger than the Dana 44.
I have it intsalled in my '64 Dart now, so I'll try to post some more pics.

I think that the ford 8.8 will be my next swap after I complete the 8.25 suregrip swap that is currently underway. When the pumpkin dog begins singing next I'll likely go FMC with discs in the rear.

Post subject:  C-clips??

Does the 8.8 use the C-clips? And if so can they be upgraded of be safe with slicks? 8 3/4 parts are very high priced, and this looks like a reasonably priced alternative.

I agree the it is a cheap alterative but it can't possibly compare to the 8.75" in terms of versatility ie: driving to the track with 3.23's and changing to 3.91's in the parking lot for racing and changing back to drive home.
Good deals can still be had on 8.75's. I got mine complete drum to drum 3.23 SG for $250.
