My local NAPA guys hooked me up with pretty much everything I needed today. :D

The couple things that they didn't have they directed me to a local performance shop "Branger's" that also hooked me up. :D

So, now I've got several parts to install. Once the heat index drops back down around 100 or so I'll stop by the garage for some more fun. Heat index today was 116, so I wasn't real motivated to play cars.

Yes, Wayne the boys can be helpful at times. It's kinda hit or miss, so I take it where I can get it.

I spent the evening at the garage last night. I tapped the block for the oil pressure gauge and got that put in along with the temp gauge, radiator, thermostat housing, hoses and fuel line to carb.

I forgot to get a fuel pressure gauge, so I still need to do that. I also over estimated the length of the hose, so it's pretty long. Not that big of a deal though.

The electric water pump kit should be in today.

I looked at how I want to install the trans cooler, but didn't start to mount it yet.

I have two alternators to test and a two groove pulley to put together what I need to get the belt in alignment.

Little by little...

Very good progress. The list is getting pretty small.
You have to be feeling good about it now.

Hey Ron,

I'm feeling better about it. That's for sure. :D

We have swim meets the next two weekends and Angie has a lot of school work right now, so progress will be a little slower.

I'm still shooting for Knoxville though! My boss just approved my leave requests for the Fridays before Knoxville, Bristol and Clay City. :D

I spent the evening at the garage again last night. :D I can't change any of the "/" to "X", but I did get the MSD box, voltage regulator and starter solenoid mounted. I didn't wire them (wires still scare me  ), but I did draw some diagrams (again  ) and make a list of questions.

I picked up a fuel pressure gauge and some fittings. I also had them shorten the braided line while I was there. As I was fiddling with the fuel line I realized that there was no fuel filter anywhere in the system I took out of the Street Duster. :? I have one that was with the GodsRods Duster to use. I just need to move things around and get some more fittings (and a new filter element  ).

I picked up the electric water pump kit as well. Getting it installed may be another story.

I had the two alternators tested and removed one of the pulleys to install the two groove pulley, but the I.D. of the pulley was to large. I stopped by an alternator rebuilder this morning to find a 2 groove pulley, but the "starter and alternator guy" was off today, "Come back tomorrow..." :?

Not sure if I can get a "kitchen pass" two days in a row and the swim meet this weekend starts tomorrow! So I may not get anything more done for about a week.

How do people with race cars manage to get them built and out to a track? I know I'm slow and none too bright, but yeesh!

It's called "thrashing" or the famous last minute "thrash"...
You work non-stop on the car for days, right before a big race or event, in order to make it there...
It sounds like you need a good "thrash session".

I kinda sorta started one trying to get ready for Elk Creek, but things have stalled somewhat lately.

I spent from 7 pm to 2 am at the garage last night. Granted, the first couple hours were spent weedeating the grass (forest  ) around the garage, trailers and truck. However, I'd say I spent a good 4-5 hours focusing on the Duster and all I got done is what is in that last post above. I spend so much time second guessing myself and making double and triple sure about things that I hardly get anything done.

What I need to do is something like John did with his truck engine removal or what several others have done by inviting friends over that know what they're doing to make some real progress. There just ain't too many Slant 6 / Mopar fellers around these parts that I know good enough to ask.

I'll Git R Dun eventually.

Who says I know what I'm doing? Should know about the pulley tomorrow morning. I am not crawlin' round the barn in today's heat.

Hey Wayne,

I wasn't necessarily referring to YOU as knowing what YOU were doing. I know you're just a "Poser" like me.

I spent 2-3 hours crawling around in the bushes with a weedeater and a pruner a couple days ago and THEN spent another 4-5 hours working on the Duster. And that was AFTER I spent a good 10 hours at work! I guess that makes me less of a Poser than you... :P  Now get out there in that barn and find me a 2 groove alternator pulley! :D

Post subject:  2 groove pulley

Rob I wish I had known you needed a two groove alternator when there is one in all the parts you bought with the challenger.

I have a couple of alternators with 2-groovers. You can have a whole alt if you like, just have to figure out transfer... No, I don't want to press a pulley off...

The search begins at 6pm after I drop off the number 1 son at football practice. Since Lou seems to have the part in question, I will see if I can get the pulley pressed off(if I find one) - but will wait for your instructions Drill Sargent Simmons!

Who says we ever do?

Your Duster will run before mine ever does.

Daytona is just waiting for time and money to coincide.

Red car is on the trailer and ready to go though. :D
