Rob Simmons had them made. I have a second one if you want it?

I gave away all the ones I had, but could have some more made. I was thinking a red/white/blue color version might be cool.

Since it appears our racing series is winding down, and I have no plans to stop driving my car yet. I have begun the process of gathering the parts I need to put my 4 speed (overdrive) back in my car. It may take a couple years but I have begun. :D

Monday evening Andrew Shank came over and we pulled out the 4.89 gears that were in the car for the 1/8 mile. And we installed my 4.56 chunk that has a clutch type sure grip. This can still be run in the 1/4 mile at 6200 rpm, and then will make for a decent gear on the street with overdrive.

I took my Quicktime blow proof over to Robbie (My paint and fab guy) and he modified the block plate and moved the starter mount out the right amount to use the V-8 flywheel and pressure plate. He has a 3D printed piece made up as a "jig" so the piece can be moved pretty easily. There is no need to move the steel cone on the bell. There is enough room inside for my mini starter nose.

I pulled my Neon seats and brackets out of the garage attic and will get them ready to mount back in the car. I'm not going to add any weight till after the Mason Dixon race in May. Just in case there is an outside chance the car can run a 7.87 and get the 1/8 mile record for my weight. I really don't think that will happen! :D After that I will probably begin adding some creature comforts back in the car. 2 seats, sparse interior, carpet and reinstall window winders and door glass.

More to come!

I did notice that my RH door was starting to close awful hard. So I spent a couple hours messing with everything I could think of to no avail! So I removed the entire door latch mechanism from the door and did some more head scratching. What I found was the star part of the latch mechanism is or was originally tight on the shaft it goes on. Mine was loose enough that it would move around and not latch properly. If it did latch then it moved backwards and left the door get loose on the frame. So I took it to the shop and cleaned it up and welded that bad boy right in place. Reassembled everything and it works like a dream! Wow, now I want to do the other side since this one works soooo nice !

The process has begun! Removed the lightweight race seat and installed the Neon Seats I had in the attic. Probably added 50# of weight so I may not even be able to run in the 12's. But I can take my wife for a spin if I want to. :D :D Just as soon as the RH side seat belt assembly gets installed. Now that all the brackets are done and mounted, I'll removed them and clean them and paint them black. Clean the seats and finish dying them black also.

The second seat is mounted and they are both dyed black. Passenger side shoulder belt kit will be here in a couple days.

What does the dyeing process involve?

I suppose you cannot dye it from say dark blue to light charcoal.. has to be dyed darker...

It is just a simple spray can process. I think it was "duplicolor" brand. I went from Gray to black and just made sure I went at it from different angles. These seats had a kind of "brushed" texture and the texture is a little stiff until it gets sat on a few times. I actually took a small soft brush over the seat as I sprayed the 3rd coat onto the seats. For 15 bucks they look great. I'm not sure how it would work going from a darker color to a lighter color?

Just a little update from our recent Mason Dixon Race. This was actually the first race that we had since I put the 40MM chokes in car, and had all 6 of them facing the right direction! :D :D Motor Mile was a no prep track so that didn' count either.

So best ever was a 12.80 @ 102.8 & 8.06 @ 84.07 This was in 45 degree weather at London,Ky

This weekend with @ 75# extra weight for the second seat and brackets and seat belts. And also 4.56 gears which were actually slower for me in the 1/4 mile in the past.

The car ran a best ever 12.78 @ 102.79 & 8.05 @83.97

5 Runs Sunday:

12.88 @ 101.99
12.88 @ 101.86
12.88 @ 100.51
12.80 @ 102.79
12.78 @ 102.76
