Come on Cory, 21 spare engines!! What is up with that. I don't want any more excuses about not having a car at Hagerstown 7/31 & 8/1. ![]() 6 weeks, 21 engines. I'm sure you can get one of them installed and ready to run by Hagerstown. See ya there, Rick |

Well after hitting TNT here in Pittsburgh after the Rained out mason Dixon race I was still getting water in the oil. I suspected it to be a leaking sleeve and it was. This block has been nothing but problems for me. I got a much better 5 plug Core block to start with for this engine. I get the block and other stuff back from the Machine shop tomorrow (friday) and I will have the weekend to start putting it togther. We will see how it goes. I can do a bit more valve pocket clearancing as some of the pistons still need it, I had the crank re polished as I think with all that white oil it was the best thing to do. We shall see how this one comes togheer. Greg |

hey greg which hole had the leak? was it number 5 with the ring grove? and what was the cause of the grove? |

Hi Cory, No it was #2 sleeve that had the leak. The head and gasket are fine. #4 and 5 both had some grooves in the cylinder walls - It does not appear to be ring related just crap that got in there, Most likely from me when I assembled it, or when I did the valve pocket porting. |

Well I officially Got the engine Back together and installed - Running Last Thursday July 15th. Took it to TNT got some bugs worked out. and still tinkering. I Did get to weigh it at Wilkedboro - 2585# no driver - - - 2785# With Driver. I just took out my 79 Volare Bucket seat in favor of a lightweight plastic Racing seat. Pics: ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Good deal Greg. Any changes for the new engine or just a parts swap from the stanley steamer? |

Just a swap from the stamer to the non steamer for now, I do have some 1.6 roller rockers to try out but My push rods are too short, so I have to get some push rods before I try them out. I made sure to get the radius on all the valve cutouts big enough before re-assembly. Greg |

Looks good! I have a few little tricks to try for Hagerstown, so I might give you a run for your rusted money up there... Lou |

Post subject: | Tricks! |
I have a Master's degree in trickenology. My trick for Hagerstown is to go so slow that the guy waiting for his side of the tree to come down, red lights due to my slowness and his excitement. On second thought that is not a trick , that is reality!! ![]() |

Well, I made some Runs Last Night and Here's the rundown. I found that If I Launch @ 3500 on the converter instead of 3000 I get better 60's and I think the engine is loosening up a bit as my 1/8 mile and 1/4 mile times and et's are coming down. O yes it fun to beat 4.6 and 5.0 'stangs, gto's and challengers. Granted the folks I was racing might not know how to launch their cars correctly yet. Here's the rundown: Run 1: 2.07 60' 8.79@80.53 1/8 13.71@99.34 1/4 Run 2: 2.05 60' 8.77@81.11 1/8 13.67@100.18 1/4 Run 3: 2.07 60' 8.74@81.20 1/8 13.62@100.20 1/4 Run 4: 2.06 60' 8.77@81.12 1/8 13.66@99.91 Next 2 runs Launched @ 3500 on the line. Run 5: 2.01 60' 8.66@81.45 1/8 13.53@100.40 1/4 Run 6 1.99 60' 8.64@81.6 1/8 13.51@100.27 1/4 Incar video Here: Outside car Video Here: Greg |
