My fan is a 3 1/2" thick at the motor and is 14" wide. Two 10's would be plenty also I'm sure.

Thanks for sharing. Inspiring stuff. Seymour's (my) white 62 Valiant would fit right in with those guys... Would need to uncork the exhaust, of course.

Yeah, they are not afraid to rev the beejeezes out of them either. There's a video of a early valiant turning 6 grand on a on ramp for the local freeway. There is another of a 225 with EFI along with a ITB intake with a claimed 380hp. I can't find that one again.

I guess it helps when you don't have a bunch of BB guys telling you are wasting your money on the \6.

I've had mine over 7000 on a burnout. I used to shift it at 6700. Slant rods are alot tougher than they get credit for.

Given the forces involved with the long stroke, it is amazing how much RPM the 225 can take, if properly set up.

My rev limits:
- 5600 on my 68 Dart (stock rebuild in 1989, nothing fancy)
- 6000 on my old 64 motor (stock rods and cast pistons, but balanced and loose clearances, saw 6200 occasionally)
- 6200 on cast crank motor for 64 Dart (saw 6800 in burnouts a few times, only one with forged pistons)
- 6200 on long rod (stock 198s) in Project V

Only one bearing failure in 30 yrs and that was due to oil starvation (check the oil before autocrossing, dude!). Project V saw 6600 once or twice at my last track outing when downshifting (oops).

My present motor is a cast crank, stock rod, cast piston deal. :D

You'all must be wrong, the fabo experts say there is no way a 225 can turn over 4800 rpm.

Post subject:  Re: Another day at Monroe

So I bought a clutch kit. I carefully researched the available candiates and placed my order and I get a 10.5" clutch kit instead of the 10" one I thought I had bought. Now I need to return it at my cost plus a 15% restocking fee.

So what are my options?

I have a complete 11" setup. But the a833 doesn't bolt on and dusteridiot says it won't fit in my '65. I have a F-Body aluminum bell housing and clutch fork. But that has it's own problems. Mostly with the Z-bar and piviot points. And my good ole '64 setup that I have been using forever.

The current clutch setup is a SPEC 9.25 Stage 2. I didn't have the problems, that others experienced. Not sure why. I guess I was lucky? But it has worn to the point that I need to replace the disk and throwout bearing. I usually replace this stuff as a unit and I guess the SPEC clutch is still available.

So in the morning I guess I'll stop by the UPS Store and see how much it will cost to ship back and try again.
