Just made the swap back to my 3.55 gears so I'll be ready to tow the race car to Mason Dixon. I really like how it runs with them in. Feels like a race truck again!

Truck ran and towed nicely this past weekend. The times it ran at the strip were almost exactly what it ran in the Spring 17.50-60 I really need to put a A/F gauge in over the winter so I know where I am at for sure. I am debating putting the race car motor over into the truck also. The truck runs really well but it does use some oil. Then I could re-ring the existing bottom end and re-insert into the truck or keep it as my back-up motor! So many decisions!

Just did another fill up and the truck got 17.7MPG with all local driving. No interstate cruising at all. This MPG in the flying brick body style isn't too bad.Come to think of it, MPG and ET are just about the same! Rick |

Ok I need some advice! Truck has started to be very difficult to get fuel into. Hit and miss, probably 50/50. Tonight to get 9 gallons in took literally 12-15 minutes. Next time it will fill up normally. Can this be a vent somewhere plugged or something going on in the tank. Just as a side note, they did install new, very fast pumps at the store where I get fuel. But going as slow as I can and moving the nozzle every way I can I can only get about .1/gallon in before it kicks off. Thanks for any help! |

Drive the left side up on ramps then fill.. I find that with my blue truck if the filling station pad is sloped toward where you are filling it takes a while or might not fill. If the pad is sloped away from the pump then the tank will lake more. Greg |

I am filling up at the same station and usually at the very same pump. It filled fine for the last 9 or 10 months and then began to act up. |

Try another station. That will tell you if it is the truck, or the new pumps. |

Yep Charlie , that is my plan too! It is just odd that it does not do it all the time on their pumps. I did 4 or 5 stops and fill ups on the way to Bristol and never had a problem anywhere.Rick |

Picked up this 4 barrel air cleaner in a pile of junk at Carlisle back in July. Just got it painted and bolted on. I'll try and run some duct work out front to feed it. $10!! I may even try to hook up the diverter and plumb some heat to it from the headers.

I just filled the truck up at another station and it took 13 gallons without any problem at all. So I am guessing those brand new pumps at the local Rutters will keep me from buying my gas there.  Good news is I can buy my gas anywhere else.

I am finally taking my 11X3" brakes off the race car and installing them on my truck. While under there I noticed gear lube thrownall around. I grabbed hold of the pinion yoke and I have some play in the bearings. So I am going to order new bearings and install them (or have them installed). My question is this about the crush sleeve. Is it better to replace that with the solid spacer and shims or use the crush sleeve? This is the 489 case rear. I do tow with the truck for the local races so the gears get loaded pretty heavily while towing. Thanks for the advice. Rick |

I vote for a solid spacer. Ratech or Dr. Diff will fix you up. I used a Ratech on my black truck.
