Greg, good for you! You must have thrashed pretty good to get that all done in time for Wilkesboro! I am looking forward to actually seeing you driving at Hagerstown, instead of holding an umbrella over you in the pits.

Greg,

You are getting into good territory there! Looks like the 12s might be in striking distance... See you several hours.

Ran a Best 1.90 60'

and another 101 Mph Pass

and a 13.26 Et.

Changed to some richer jets to the secondary Circuit to compensate for the good air.

Well Alot Has happened since the last post in July.

I won My first Slant Six Race in Hagerstown Md with Ruster in it's Rookie Season.

I did hit a couple of TNT's around here since then - Tried a bigger carb and really nothing came of it.. Except for a better idle. So the old 500 CFM carb will be going back on and a Grear Change from 4.30 to 4.56.

I also managed to break a flexplate / Torque converter.

CARNAGE PICS BELOW! Nothing serious happened except for a bunch of rattling at idle like a #6 rod bearing was toasted.

Thankfully that was not the case.

Two welding points came off the Converter (see Pics) and one leg of the flexplate broke leaving one leg / bolt / mount driving the whole converter.

Ruster Is going on a serious diet this winter too!!!

I would send back to Midwest and have them fix the mounting points. Looks like cold weld spots.

Well I got all the bugs worked out of the converter and flexplate on paper and in theory - I will have to wait until I get all this stuff put back into the car to really try it all out.

The TCI Flexplate is for an LA engine / 904 combo - Also it uses 7/16" sized bolts to mount a non - stock type converter - which I dont have. So I found some M6 Metric washers that were a few thousandths smaller than the flexplate to converter holes and welded them in to get the correct sizing there.

Also the V-8 flexplate has one bolt hole about 1/2" off where it would need to be to bolt up to a slant crankshaft. So I drilled and welded to fix that all up. Now I have A SFI Slant 6 flexplate (Kinda) with modifications.

Pics below.

Ruster is going on a Diet in a big way!

I started the Process of lightening up the doors.

I should get about 20# of glass, Window regulators, rustproofing and excess steel out of each door.

Some pics below:

Greg

New Trans Kickdown Adjustment - Eliminating the Kickdown linkage / Cable from Carb. - Since the Car actually just runs mostly at WOT there is no need for a cable.

Next 3 Shots are of the Metal, components and Sound deadner removed from the door.

Everything removed from rear door is 20#

Front Door Gets the same treatment Except the Glass track will remain for an operational front window - It will get pulled up and down with an old dog leash or seat belt.
