What's wrong with aluminum for a street engine?

Aluminum street head = 30# lighter n the front right of the car.

Nothing wrong with an aluminum head for a street car.
But.....
At $3K dollars (my estimate) it doesn't seem to be a good idea for a "street" car.

I but Guzzi Mark or Semour Might go for it. After they had lightened everything else already!

It's just an expensive street car.

There has to be unnecessary weight in an iron head you could "mill" away........................

The head for hydraulic lifter engines is considerably lighter than the others. The early air-injection peanut-plug head is the heaviest

Wait, what???!!?
I thought all the 'non-drool tube' heads were heavier.
What does the hydro head weigh?

The problem with iron is it's about 3X heavier than aluminum. So...you can mill a bunch away but if you were to mill 3X away, it would lower your compression a bunch and make your oil look like chocolate milk.

Mr. Maw just posted showing 2 aluminum heads in the process. They is purdy!

So I am a little bit behind; I ran into some fixturing issues, and I am going to make a set of custom vice jaws in order to finish the rocker arm side of the head.
I have to turn my machines over to the company, till the weekends.
All in all I shaved 50 pounds off of each block.

This was news too me.
This is on the FB inline drag race page.
There is a head for the ford six, built by Alan Johnson (Top Fuel) and it is cleveland based.
The comments indicated that your total costs by the time you got it on the engine was 8-10K.
Even if that is estimate is way off it would seem to be 4-5K at best.

Mr Maw posted pictures the other day of a head installed on a motor and claimed it was running.

The cylinder head itself costs over $5K, so that estimate of $8K-$10K is a reality! It flows over 400 CFM and has been available for over 20 years now from Alan Johnson.

Can anyone post a link to the latest pics? I don't do FaceBook and can't seem to find anything when I look there.

Too bad Ford didn't use a Cleveland head on the 300!

Several Ford racers back in the 70's made hybrid heads using 351C heads on the 300. Even though the bore spacing weren't the same on the 2 engines, they sectioned the 351C heads into 6 different pieces and welded them together. They made some big power for that time, most were over 500 HP.
