The Erson TQ20M that I was running was getting about 15" of vacuum at 850rpm and had a slight lope. Dialing in the ignition shouldn't be problem as it will be using a trigger wheel, LS coils and a Microsquirt to control everything. The lobe separation is:
Lobe Separation110*
Center Line Intake106*
Center Line Exhaust114*

Just loaded a registered copy of TunerStudio on an old DELL Inspiron laptop. It even has a DB9 serial port and Windows 8! Just another step in getting the Dart back on the road.

I have been plugging away on the Duster. I have the videos to prove it: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWH73Y ... JuKJWq0MAA

I hope to run it down the track before the end of September.

Glad to hear it, Kevin! Keep up the good work, and I look forward to hearing about street driving and track times.

Best,
Lou

Just dropped the Darts block off at the machine shop to have them bore it to the next oversize. Presumably that will .040, by maybe not, they have a sonic bore checker to check the wall thickness just in case.

Silly me seems to have misplace the rods for this engine. Please see ad in "Parts Wanted".

Just a reminder, I have been posting content at the above YouTube link. You too can join my 3 subscribers and 6 loyal followers for your viewing pleasure.

I am picking up the block and pistons tomorrow, along with another junk 198 block that has been converted to a 225. You can never have enough junk 225's laying around the yard you know.

Kevin,

I have not been able to find my "box o' rods" so don't wait for me. I may look again this week, but no guarantees. Sorry about that.

BTW, I may try your homebuilt big tube headers on my supercharger engine. Working to get that into the 68 Dart in the next month or two.

Cool to both items Lou.

So I got the block back. I seems that I managed to self bore the block over .040 as the machine shop had to go to .060 to clean up the bores. So nice shiny piston and rings are waiting to be installed. And the block is clean enough to eat off of. It is interesting to note that a set of 6 Silv-O-Lite pistons and Hastings rings now costs close to $240.

The junk 198 is a first gen 225 from the early '60s. I say this because the block number has '-1' next to it and it has 3 freeze plugs.. It is also painted yellow along with a blue oil pan. The engine is out of a '69 Dart that somebody is going to put a 3rd gen hemi into. That would explain the blue oil pan.

The lore is that yellow 225's were either truck or industrial engines. I can say for sure that the cam is not gear driven, just a simple chain. But then who know when this was rebuilt last. The steel head gasket doesn't have the pent star logo, so it has been apart at least once. I wonder if it has sodium filled exhaust values. I believe they were rumored too.

What are the Home built Big bore headers?

I may be interested in those too, any further information?

Maybe i missed in this post or elsewhere?

Thank you,

Greg

Kesteb built a custom set by hand several years ago and I bought them from him when he changed directions (thanks!). I think they are 1.75" primary pipes, but at least 1.625". I can show you next time we are together.

They were 1 3/4" unequal length primaries, 5" long collectors with 2 1/2" outlets. The #1 and #6 are the longest runners, #2 and #5 are mid length and #3 and #4 are the shortest. The outlets are parallel under the carburetor mount. In this way they easily clear the starter and power steering pump.

They were inspired by a letter to "Headers by Ed" from the Thunderbird Super Coupe club on how to find headers for there 3.8 super charged engine.

I am going to make a set with 1 5/8" primaries, 5" long collectors and 2 1/4" outlets for my Dart. The 2 1/4" tubes will snake easier thru the clutch linkage.
