I just read the track rules, and it states that a relocated battery requires a master cut off switch located outside the body of the car. I have relocated the battery to the trunk, and do not have a master cut-off switch. Is this going to be a problem? Will they still let me run time trials? Sam |

Sam, I have never been dinged for that on a street car. Raced the '64 Dart a a couple dozen times with no switch and batt in trunk. Lou |

Sam, I don't know the answer. I will place e-mail to the track and see. Rick I guess Lou posted while I was typing. Do you still want me to contact them? Or do we want to leave well enough alone? I'll be glad to contact them. Rick |

I don't need to know ahead of time. There is no time to get one now, and I am bringing the car one way or the other. Let's just see how things work out with minimal attention drawn to it. Sam |

I'm not going to be able to make it this weekend. Other plans and the fact that I have no driveshaft at the moment are the problems. I want to hear all about the event. Anyone doing video's? |

I just walked in the door (11:00PM) from our test and tune at Mason Dixon. I think the guys got to make 5 or 6 passes. Lou made it , Greg, Chris , and my son Ryan all made some nice runs. I watched and pitted on Ryan's car and Ron and Kay Hamby showed up at around 8:00ish. Some others will be coming in tonight to stay at the track. And we still have a place reserved for anyone who wants to show up tomorrow. Lou - broke into the 13's with Project V, Greg was was running around 13.3 with Ruster, Chris was running right around 17.0, and Ryan's Dart ran a 14.06. (Oh so close to that 13.99) A good time was had by all, and we are looking forward to tomorrow. See ya at the track. Rick Covalt |

I woke up thinking about work, and when I came to the computer to write down some thoughts, I saw the posts here. Congratulations to all. I am looking forward to Saturday. That's today isn't it? I want you to know that this is going out on the skinny branches for me. Not only have I not raced on the track in 45 years, but this car has not been really put through any kind of rigorous paces since I got it back together. It has only been running anywhere near correctly for just two weeks now. And the weather has not cooperated at all with going out cruising and testing. So this is a real shakedown for it. It's a long way from home if something breaks. Last time I raced it was heads up racing in classes. My class was F stock. And a good ET was 15.5. It's funny, we refer to it as the MUSCLE CAR era. But the cars today are much, much faster. See you there. Sam |

Just getting ready to leave for the track. The weather looks good for today, but tomorrow is a little iffy. Hopefully we will get both days in without a hitch. But, just in case you drive there tomorrow and it happens to be raining when you get there; I'd make a suggestion to you. When you come in just pay to be a spectator ($10) and come on in to the slant 6 pit area. If it clears off and we do race you can go pay the extra $25 and get your tech card and go racing. If it rains and is canceled you won't be out $35 bucks. See ya at the track. Rick |
