Ditto on that. I enjoyed getting to meet all the guys (and a few gals) who showed up. This is a wonderful group of folks, and I feel proud to be a part of it. Thanks for the warm welcome I felt.

Ron, be well man.

Congratulations to the winners, and the losers for going out there and giving your best. It is a great practice to have even the first round losers walk away with a token bit of prize money.

I have to say, the noise and heat got to me. There were moments waiting in the staging lines when I questioned my judgment. But as the day cooled off, and it came down to watching the brackets pair off and race, it got to be much more pleasant. And, I learned some very valuable things about the Dart I could not have known without this. More on that in the EFI section. Improvements are on the way.

Won't be there today. I've got church chores to attend to, and work to catch up on, as I played hookie from work to be there Saturday.

Great time was had by all. We are hoping for another great day today. Heading to the track in a few minutes. Weather looks decent so far and the sun is out now. Cross dem fingers...

I am pretty psyched to have finally made it to the 13s (13.93 best). Should be able to tune it down a few more tenths.

Sorry I missed the fun, was stuck in Boston longer than expected. Hopefully next year the Signet will be ready for some action.

Post subject:  Mason Dixon II - Day 1

Day 2 Racing went off with no problems. The rain held off and we had mostly sunny all day.

We lost 3 racers from yesterday and gained 2 new guys to give us 13 racers today. I will do a full reporting in a day or two, but our finals came down to Lou Madsen in Project V who dialed in at 13.91 and newcomer to our group, Ken Anderson, in his 1969 (I think) Dodge Dart dialed in at 16.15. Lou had to set on the line and wait for a couple seconds and he lit up the big red bulb and gave Ken the win. Ken just got his car back together on Thursday and wasn't even sure he could make it to the race. Good thing he came, as he took home $300 for his win. Lou took home $150 for his R/U. Congrats Ken!

One memorable or forgettable moment happened when yesterday's R/U Chris Evrard dumped the clutch on his Dart and it laid the driveline out on the track. It looks as though something happened to the straps or bolts holding the rear U-joint in. Chris took it in stride, and no one was hurt. I'm sure he'll have her fixed up in no time.

Yesterday's Final Had Greg Ondayko in his Ruster Racer dialed in at 13.45, and local Hagerstown racer Chris Evrard in his Dart dial-ed in at 16.40 Greg cut a .051 light to Chris' .056, but Greg nailed his number with a 13.453 to Chris' 16.44. Not bad at all for Chris ,especially sine he is driving a stick car on street tires. But congratulations to Greg on his great win and Chris for his R/U. Winner took home $300 and R/U $150.

A special thanks to all who purchased shirts to support this Race, to Lou for his fine donation to the purse and to Mason Dixon Dragway who gave us back $675 for the purse also. All told we handed out $1600 in prize money. Thanks to all.

As mention by Sam, keep Ron Hamby in your thoughts and prayers. He drove up Friday night to Race with us and had some shortness of breath and pain in his chest. They went to Critical care and got checked out and came back and raced with us Saturday, but things were still not 100%. So they camped at the track last night in order to take a leisurely drive home, and not be worn out today and then drive home late tonight. Take care Ron, we will all look forward to racing with you another day.

Wow, what a fun weekend. THANK YOU Rick for all your work in organizing this event.

Thanks to all the guys for helping me through my first real race! As Rick mentioned I got pretty lucky for running a 4sp on street tires.

And dropping my driveshaft may have been a blessing in disguise. For some reason I seemed to drop a cylinder on my last time trial, going from a 16.5 to a 17.2. I decided to run anyhow but ended up dropping the drive shaft on the starting line of my very first run!!??!! Weird.........

Thanks again everyone. Amy and I both had such a great time and were made to feel welcome by all the 6'ers.

Best to Ron and Kay. Hope you had a safe trip home and heal quick Ron! God Bless,

Later All,

C

Thanks for a great weekend everyone, especially Rick Covalt for his tireless and stupendous efforts. This was a really special race weekend for many people, including me. There were a few thrash sessions in the pits, but nothing too crazy. All in a good race...

Congrats to Ken and Greg for 1st time race wins!

Warm thoughts to Ron and Kay. Sounds like Ron is OK, but we'll keep our ears on.

Slant on,

Lou

It was such a good idea to move from Pittsburgh to Hagerstown. The race was really well attended and the track treats us great! I have 14 timeslips in my hand. We could take as many time runs as we wanted before eliminations started. I took 6 on Saturday and 3 on Sunday, it was great especially running this car for the first time. I'm going to leave the rubber on my 1/4's for as long as it has the courage to hang on.

Congrats to the winners Greg and Ken!

Post subject:  Correction

My apologies to Chris Evrard for spelling his last name wrong and getting his dial-in wrong on my report above. He dialed a 16.40 (not a 14.40) & ran a 16.44.

Sorry Chris

Also, I already spoke to the owner about Mason Dixon III and he said that he thought that we are a nice addition to the all Mopar event and that we can do it all again next year. I took the liberty to tell him that we would love to come back next year.

I also would like a couple folks (may 2 in addition to me) to go to the Mason Dixon website and send them an email and just thank Elmer for allowing us to come this year and for his generous support for our racing series. He has made us feel at home and given us good money for the purse. I don't want 14 of us doing it but a couple notes would be nice. If you will do that please let us know here. First come first serve! :D

Knee surgery tomorrow so I probably won't talk to you guys for a couple days.

Rick, thanks again for all your hard work in putting this together. It was great meeting everyone. I had a blast driving the car there and back. The racing felt pretty much the same as driving down the highway ;)

Even though I said it at the track, I'll say it here so you can all hold me to it. Next year I will not have the slowest car there! I drove my truck on Monday and although I have a few loose ends to tie up it's together so I'll be working on that turbo shortly...
