Hmm, lets see, problems with the 1945...

1. Venturi/bore is small and flows poorly
2. Vacuum port is positioned so that the vacum advance comes in late
3. Power valve can't be easily adjusted
4. strange driveability problems that won't go away
5. Accelertor pump and idle passages are very small, making it very suspectible to being clogged by dirt/sludge/trash.
6. Float design is poor and easily upset by rough dirt roads, jumping hills, and slamming on brakes.

I have an 82 225 with a Holley 1945- I took it off and a Carter 9-83 will bolt right up with no problems...The only thing is that you will not get the best gas millage but mine is a d-150 pickup. I bought the carburetor for somewhere around $180 at autozone.
