Ordinary hardware store "chrome" aluminum spray paint is the correct material for refurbishing brake and turn signal reflectors. You don't want a chromelike (specular) finish on those. See here.

Just thought I'd add this

I was thinking of doing this for all my handles knows and stuff on the inside of my VC. And I was down at my local paint shop been there a lot and he's a honest old guy and you'd probably get away with calling him pops.

Either way he tried it, said it looks great and works well however as soon as it gets chipped or scrapped etc it'll start to turn green and go to sh**. He showed me on his Chev.

He also said when people put it on there bumper bars on lookers and stuff seem to assume it's real chrome and don't mind giving it a kick etc. (though personally I wouldn't want someone to touch the car I'd put all that hard work into).

Either way having seen that I think it's worth paying the ridiculously high cost to get something chromed, but that's just me, also he may have just had bad luck.
