I dont know what Id be in for in the quarter mile but as far as 1/8 mile time goes the '66 barracuda in the next two to three years once I get it completed it should run 7.90's hopefully. Gutted as far as you can go with
a home built tube chassis and an aluminum floor, and plexi windows. Hope to make it toward 2000# even. Time will tell.

Hope everyone is having a great holiday season. I finally scaled several cars to determine actual potential for weight loss. First 69 dart as raced last season, no back seat light wheels other misc removed but no cutting,2727w/o driver. 64 dart sedan as raced at last redding race 2490 no front bumper one race seat ,heater core gas tank etc removed but no cutting. Now for the secret project its a 70 cuda 14point cage everything fiberglass, with sl6 cast iron manifonds, heavy factory discs amd 15inch big tires out back, stock front steel wheels . 1773 w/o driver, car needs another 450 lbs for a total of2223 ready to race.I know from past projects an easy 100 lbs can come off the front end,and another 50 fron excess material making it 2073.wheels and tires another 50,so it looks like 2000 w/o driver is possible. Also this car wont certify so a few pipes could be removed. This will be a slow process wont be ready till at least summer,i will update every few weeks, may need a jockey for a driver but i think it can go under 2000 with driver.

Better check the rules. I don't know for sure, but I think any safety devices, that are installed, must meet the rule book, even if they are not required.

Wow..the secret project is finally out....I need to come over with my bathroom scales...Sounds like a neat project....I need to see it first hand....What rear end are you planning on using? 8" Ford or big Mopar?
Don't forget fuel @ 7# per gallon...I hear Glen might also be looking for a faster new ride this year..?? Take care, Wayne

Yep,Glenn wants that Challenger, Wayne it has an83/4 with ladder bars and 4.88s,but i may put a ford8.8 with a mini spool, another 50/75 llbs off. This car will be legal to 10.00 only because some of the bars are not the correct wall thickness but it was formerly a 7.50 legal chassis. I told Glenn if he wants to dump his piece and buy a motor with some power he can drive it. It doesnt matter what he drives he can win wiyh any car.

I don't think you will save that much weight going to the 8.8 vs. the 8 3/4" You might want to go to the 8" but then, don't have much choice with gearing options. The 8 3/4 really gives you much more options and you can always take off some #'s with the mini spool and lightweight yokes, ect. Just getting rid of the heavy disc both front and back and going to the Wildwood drilled lightwts will do the trick. Easy to bolt on...I could even do it....Lightweight alum. driveline should also help...Let me know when you have time for lunch...here or there.. Great project...Will it ever run as fast as a 170????? Later, Wayne

Hi,Ceej no i dont need it.I have not seen it in person but it would cost a lot more than the asking price to build one like that. Hey Wayne lunch next week sounds good. I dont know if it will outrun a 170,but there will be plenty of room for a big turbo (oops ,that a secret too).
