Post subject:  OK, who can come??

Great job, Rick! I am leaning towards calling that the date and going with it.

I think we should do warm ups on Saturday and maybe run gamblers, and then run the Slant race on Sunday with the Mopar event. I am open to suggestions, though.

We could also go for 2 Slant points races in that weekend, if there is enough interest, but that would take commitment from some folks.

Now, who will come from this side of the country? Sound off!

Lou
Phil
Dan?
Rick
Rick's son (Ryan?)
Sam Powell?
Greg
Brian
Paul?
65 Dartman (Don)? - in Staunton not far
Will Burns?
Brian Mimken?
Charles Myers?
?????

I will promote this one at the banquet (Jan 23-25), but maybe we can have the date confirmed before then.

Thanks!

Lou

Post subject:  Car count?

Ok, Let's here from some others who are at least probable so we can get a base count. Is it to far fetched to think we could have 15 cars for a first time race? That's a $450 payout. I am considering (notice I said considering) putting a set of 198 rods up for sale and donating that towards the purse. I know they are not as hot a commodity since there are other options available now, but someone may want to make a nice donation towards the purse and get a little something in return. Of course any other donations for a 1st time race at Mason-Dixon would be greatly appreciated.

I will be there, but I have no car to race. If there is an extra car there I'd surely be willing to drive it.

Coming:

Rick Covalt No car
Ryan Covalt (some work to do on swinger but should be ready)

If we get some more who are probables, and you want me to confirm the date with Mason Dixon, just let me know.

Rick,

No car? Yer killin' me here...

We will not be able to get an accurate car count this far in advance. I for sure and likely others will throw into the purse. That's great the track will put entry fees toward the purse!

I'm sure we can at least get up to $500 w/track+others, and $6-800 is likely. You could also consider making the 198 rods simply part of the payout (to the winner or long distance traveler for example).

I will almost certainly be able to bring two cars so someone else can drive one, or I'll bring another driver along - we'll see.

We'll see who else pipes up here...

Post subject:  Mason Dixon

I spoke with Mason Dixon yesterday and he said that the Convertible can run with the top up, no problem. I also let him know that we would get back with him shortly with an answer on the race there.

He also said the Gamblers race usually brings in 15-25 cars for Saturday night

What's up with the nonpaying CC people?

They aren't doing Bowling Green this year.

Rick,

Let's try to hold off until after the banquet this weekend and we'll have a better idea.

If they need to know this week, then tell 'em YEAH!

I just put it on my calendar. I'll be there as a spectator for sure.

I'm going to look at a new car tomorrow, if that works out I may just have a car to drive too :D

Cheers

If there is any slantsix.org member that needs a place to stay for the race weekend at Mason Dixon, I have an extra room. 10 min from track.

1st one to claim it, gets it!

Thanks!

Hey Lou - I'm actually much farther north than Staunton - about 20 miles south of Winchester. Couldn't make it on Saturday (gotta work EVERY Sat), but am free on Sundays. Only problem is my only current slant car (65 Signet convert) is out of commisiion so no car.

Hey Don,

I should have a talk with Rick about race days (Sat or Sun or both). Get that Slant car going, my man!

In any case, there'll be people there parts or all of both days.

See you there!
