Dad looks like that in person. I dye marked and Magnafluxed the head and cant prove it was welded. I think it was cast this way.the "added material' around the combustion chambers in the close up views appears in the photos to have a different gloss than the remaining firedeck area. Is that the same appearance in person? If so, are the closed in combustion chambers welded material? certainly a nice find,, and the dragster is just as cool! Thanks for the coolness vote, Frank |

Frank so do you think the combustion chambers were cast or are they welded? not that the combustion process would know the difference,, but if it was cast,, one would think there would be more of them out there if it is welded,, it could be a one off,,, |

I think the combustion chamber Heart shape may be cast. However i think around the spark plug hole may have some welding done. I know other heads exist. Im trying to acquire a whole engine to see what cam , pistons and block they were running. We think it was a 170 bored .200 over with .100 bore notches. The widest point is 3.7 across which would bear this out. Also would explain the ability to spin into the 8K plus range. Frank |

That head looks very close to one I saw at someone's shop a few years ago, as far as the chamber shape. His was welded. The car was a rocket too. |
