I just reset the ECU on my Ford Focus when it throws a TPS OBD error code....................

Then it's good for another year or two....

I read the Microsquirt manual on TBI. It seems relatively simple. For this D150 project I'll first use a BBD with plans to convert to TBI. I admit, that I mostly think the dual Offy looks cool. It would probably work pretty good with carbs, so that might be step 2. The slant six needs carb heat, and its cursed with carb heat. Here in South Texas too much heat is often a consideration, but I ran a carb with headers and it takes a bit of time to warm in the winter. I have 3 Dutra manifolds, I'd like to use 2 of them on this motor.

There are some inline tractor guys doing this with GM computers running everything, although megasquirt would work just fine. Would require some fiddling with the distributor to use the GM computer but you could get everything you need from junkyards. There is a lot of support for reprogramming them (although megasquirt is likely a better with so many more users).

The ones I have seen with two TBI units just use one TPS. That way you are just wiring everything up just like a 2BBL TBI with the exception of running the wiring over to the 2nd injector on the second TBI.

As long as the linkage is good you shouldn't need TPS to both units.

Great idea to sync linkage well and just run one TPS. I should have thought of that!

You could have 2 TPS's, just have one connected at a time.............

Backup ready to go.........

Dual TBIs is one application for throttle by wire that makes sense to me, but I've never heard of that for TBI.

Link is old but there is more info there if you are interested.

Guy that did it runs this site, which sells adapter plates for the tbi units:

I remember finding a more detailed post on installing the system but can't find it now.

If you look at the crossfire corvette tbi units I think they have throttles that open opposite directions so a tbi unit that opens the same way as a throttle rod early a carb should be available. This is something I have been considering for my rebuild that is coming up in the next winter or two.

Some use the GM control module. Some of these have a socketed ROM that makes it easy to reprogram. The TBI from the last years of the Chevy Cavalier is a good replacement for a one barrel, but the older TBI from an Iron Duke is okay too.
