I got my car home today :D

But the radiator sprung a jet stream leak while it was sitting on the trailer. :( My car has now manners at all, it started peeing right in front of the Neighbors, Sam, Diana, every body.

Lou and Rick, thanks for the offers on radiators but I think I'll just set it out this go round (I really have to much stuff to get done on it by Thursday anyway). BUT I WILL BE RACING NEXT YEAR!!!

OK, we'll stop nagging you, Alanna. Best of luck with the mis-mannered car...

Weather update:

Friday and Saturday are only 20-30% chance of rain with highs in upper 80s. Sunday has a 30-40% chance of rain with similar high temp.

For this time of year, we really couldn't ask for a better forecast! I cannot emphasize enough not to let the weather dictate plans for racing. I have gone to races when the chance of rain is over 50% and didn't see a drop of rain. I personally think the forecasters must feel obligated to put a 30% chance of rain in their forecast if there are going to be any clouds in the sky.

I feel for the people on the gulf coast dealing with Isaac, but am hopeful they will pull thru alright.

Let's go racing!!!!

Post subject:  I can't make it...

Sorry folks, but I won't be able to make it. :(

Brian and "Mystery Racer": Check your PMs...

My friend Gerald Wright will be there with his smallblock '86 Charger, black in color, car number L268.

He can pick up those parts for me. No engine blocks though... :(

McDonald's is closing... Gotta go!

I was up at 4 AM packing up, and now at work finishing some things before I head out mid-late morning.

BTW, it occurred to me that Jack Everhardt and Mark Charapich will almost certainly be there, although I haven't spoken with them recently.

See y'all there!

You've missed 2 in a row that are too close to you....what's the deal!

Somebody at Knoxville was mad cause you didn't show up after you kept raggin" on them to make it.

Nutshell:

A bit hot and humid, and a few sprinkles, but otherwise great weather. 10 cars Sat, 9 cars Sun.

Rookie Jack Everhardt won his first round Sat, and then the whole race!! Big congrats to Jack.

Veterans Ron Hamby and Rodney Hargis met in the finals on Sunday and Ron took it.

I worked on my car (64 Val) all weekend and it kept running worse and worse. Kind of a bummer, but a nice time with the Slanted family. 30 miles from home this evening, my dist gear shredded and I had to get towed (3rd time in 24 yrs of A-body running, 2nd time from dist gear). Thought it shredded the oil pump drive gear too, but it will make oil pressure under cranking, so I think it's just the dist.

Slant on, folks!

Rob, I didn't get your pm until after I got back from the race, sorry. Check your pm.

A big thanks to all of the people at the race for their get well wishes and prayers for Anna. She is doing a bit better, but still pretty much out of commission. She is going to her specialist Tuesday.

Also would like to thank Ron and Kay Hamby for showing me a better way thru the mountains during the trip back home. Unfortunately, the truck stalled out on me in the middle of a thunderstorm about an hour from home. Don't think it was a fuel issue, I verified I had fuel coming out of carb. Must be a weird electrical issue. Long story short, I didn't get home from the race until 1am Monday morning.

Really happy for Jack Everhardt, I think he has caught the slant sickness bug! Had a good time at the track, and catching up with everyone.

I would also like to thank the Bruners and Hambys for generously providing some great food for all of the racers! They typically do it every year, but it is still very much appreciated!

Lou. What do you think was the cause ?

I am hoping the pump and cam gear are not goofed up and caused this. Does not seem that way since I get 20 psi on cranking.

Otherwise, I would chalk it up to the 35+ yr old nylon gear on the dist that I recurved and stuck in there. The first one that failed in 1999 was also an old original one with 150k or however many miles on it...

Mark Charapich even offered me another dist to carry with me at Bristol, and I confidently told him to keep it. Call me Dr. Doofus.
