Record run backups have to be within 1% I believe. Rusty made plenty of runs within that, so he should have a new record.

Yes dennis is correct I am not sure how to calculate the 1% but the other runs that were .001 up or down should be good.

Yes it is within 1% for a backup run.

Multiply the ET or MPH by 0.01 (1%) and that gives you the range. So, 6.872 X 0.01 = 0.06872 and that means he can run as slow as a 6.872 + 0.0672 = 6.939 and have a valid backup run.

Hey Lou,

I think you missed a digit in the second equation. Shouldn't it be:

6.872+0.06872 = 6.94072 ??

Whoops, you're right! Thanks, Rob. I would round to 6.941, but I am not sure if Seymour rounds or not.

Personally, I am not convinced that the lights/beams on a track are accurate to 0.0001 sec. I started a calculation on this once, but don't exactly remember what I found. IIRC, there is something like 0.0002 to 0.0004 sec slop in this measurement.

I updated the Championship thread giving Rusty the 20 points for setting the record.

(Seymour posted in the Records thread that it was official)
