| Post subject: | Re: Group buy interest - Big bore Aussie head gaskets - Dead - incorrect gaskets |
ATTENTION. I put a note on my order to Precision to check if these were still the big bore gaskets. They responded last night and they are NOT the correct gaskets. It looks like Endurotec changed their process/supplier/design and we can no longer get the big bore gasket. Drat. These are 3.5" bore, like a FelPro. I have cancelled this order and it seems we can no longer get "the good stuff." Too bad for us, but this is life... Maybe we can explore other suppliers and/or contact Endurotec directly? I have expended my available effort/time on this for the moment. Thanks to all for your excitement! Lou |

Well, If we ever get to contact them I could up my order some to get the numbers up if there is a minimum order. I have a couple left, but if we get in a real jamb we can always get a MLS gasket from Ryan in any size we want. |

Thanks guys. I may get back to contacting Endurotec directly at some point, but right now I am burned out on this, and pretty disappointed. Lou |

Rick, in round numbers what do the large bore slant MLS gaskets run? The MLS is superior technology for cylinder head sealing. Maybe the slant six performance group should be putting their efforts behind the businesses that are manufacturing the products that the group wants? And, since AussieSpeed can’t get big bore slant gaskets from Endurotec anymore, wonder if they would be interested in purchasing them through Ryan. Being a distributor for what maybe the worlds only big bore slant head gaskets could be an interesting side business. |

I'm not 100% on it, but FABO member MOPAROFFICIAL, said a large-bore Cometic one-off was either$78 or $87...that was a while back. The Cometic I put on Pop's '87 ShelbyZ was over $100 from Summit, and that was an in-stock item, so I anticipate at least that now. |

Don't quote me but I think somewhere between $175 & $200, Maybe a little more. He did 2 bore sizes. One for stock bores and one for big bores. Your thickness was also able to be changed if you wanted. The more layers the more costly. Ryan ran one for a couple seasons on his 13.5 to one race engine without problems. And it was removed and reused at least once maybe twice. The small bore one was designed with the aluminum engine in mind to try and assist sealing between the aluminum and cast iron. I think Lou is putting a engine together with this combo. Cometic in 2015 quoted us $350 per gasket with a minimum order of 20 |

I have the small bore MLS in my 9.6:1 aluminum engine with about 250 miles on it and some hard use. I have not raced it yet or really burn tested it, but it is working well so far. Lou |

I had several gasket companies make the big port intake/exhaust gaskets out of copper for the Slant with ported heads several years ago. Both companies also make head gaskets, and while MLS is rated by those companies as being 2 steps superior to a stock composition head gasket, they both rate copper as being 2 to 3 steps superior to an MLS gasket, and they are considerably cheaper and reusable numerous times also. |

But copper almost always has water issue from what I see? |
