The pictures that I have seen of manifolds used with forced induction have short stubby runners and generous plenums. You should search some of the Datsun 510/Z car sites. They have several pictures of log manifolds made by "Turbo Tom" that fit the above description. They are supposed to be very good manifolds. |

Holy cow, that seems like a high RPM range for a manifold a lot of people consider to be a "long runner" design. How much longer would you have to go to tune for, let's say, 2500 rpm? Maybe each intake tube could resemble the Super Duper Looper roller coaster at Hersheypark? ![]() Here's a dumb question: I assume all of this tuning is as important in a port injection system as with a carburetor, the exception being we don't need to worry about keeping fuel droplets in suspension in the mixture? - Erik |

The 4500-5500 "tuned" power band of a factory Hyper-Pak was based on a 170 engine with a pretty good cam. (276 / .440 lift)I would think that a longer stroke 225 with a milder cam could be made to "tune" at lower RPMs. The trouble is that the smaller displacement tends to need some RPM to make horsepower, you need to burn some fuel and the cubes alone at 2500 RPM does not give you a lot to burn.
