Sorry Greg, Just hopped on here and saw what was going on.
I am kind of favoring what Mark said as running stock springs over SS or others. My car had better traction and launch with the stock springs on the Dart. When changing to SS it raised the back of the car 5 1/2'' and I went with 2'' lowering blocks also. The blocks have been on the car for at least 8 years now. Also experimented with pinion snubber on and off and saw no change with the SS springs. Clamping the front seems to be the most effective on stock springs. Just theory but low rear wheel horsepower may have to do with it.Ever since the invention of traction compound the thing we have to deal with is too much bite and the chance of breaking things. Tracks like Vegas prep the full length,I hardly do much of a burn out and the car will run as much as 4 tenths slower or more having to power through the sticky stuff. Others prep maybe to the 60' mark. Sorry for the ramble too much once I get going on a thought.

I used the Mopar HD leafs & nothing else. Pinion snubber unloaded the axel and caused spinning. 1.59 60'.

Thanks guys.

Romeo, We had talked about this before with the dart.

I am pretty much in agremment that even in you have a hyped up slant Making 300HP or less you don not need some wacky rear suspension.

That's what I did in the 14 second dart With some sub 2.0 second 60' times and There is still al whole lot of tuning both engine and suspension in Ruster left.

I am of the position now That I would like to stick with the 200k+ mile stock 5 leaf springs on ruster and See what I get.

I have not gotten spinning yet, but what to try other things when the time comes.

I am not Discounting the boost and turbo cars But they run a heck of alot faster and make a heck of alot more power. so Reear Axle control is a bit more critical for these cars.

I have seen some real results with old worn out junk and I also have seen some 15 ~second slant cars run real slow with SS and XHD springs when They dont make enough power to warrant having that kind of spring.

Thank you to all who have participated in the Suspension discussion.

Just need to get me a windshield and Get the rain to stop around here for some racin!
:D

Anybody like traction bars? or isn't that more of a wheel hop problem solver? I'm just curious about them.

Greg, jutst keep good records of each run, especially the 60' and 330' times. That will let you keep track of how consistently your suspension is working. The more consistent the 60', the easier the car will be to dial.

I understand. I have a 72 Rallye Charger, 3700lbs and 440 that runs 1.72 60' (12.70's e/t) on stock original springs. Ran the best w/o the snubber but body would squat and hunt around. Adjustable snubber would make it just loose traction. What size tire do you run?

Dennis, what does Mike Jeffrey run on his Diplomat? Caltracs? Stock?

To be real honest I do not know. I don't think he has Cal-Tracs though.

Here's a pic from Tri-State last year. Can't really see anything under it.

Single leaf leads me to believe caltracts.I had a bunch of real low 1.50 60 fts,One 1.49,then I started changeing things to get better.Went from low 1.50s to consistant high 1.50s.Pulled the snubber off and am getting closer to where I was.Mark

Well No real Big updates,

I cancelled My windshiled Order With summit, as Everytime I have called Since Feb They Would call the manufacturer and It would be "2 More Weeks".

So I just ordered a large sheet of lexan.. It will be here on monday - I will get out the heat gun and form it over the original glass then cut it and install it.

I did pull the car out and verify that the car shifts correctly with my kickdown Cable eliminator:

It does shift fine!

I should get the windshield in tomorrow night and Today I think I will throw in the 4:56's

Still waiting on my lowering blocks to be made.
