Great news on your back (especially) and the car updates.

Maybe your car and mine will be a close race? I plan to run eliminations around 6-7 psi on the Dart (low 15s?), then maybe try for records at 11+ psi during testing.

Cheers,

Lou

Post subject:  Hope so

I hope to run low 15's. I fear that I may still be traction challenged with my skinny tires. But down the road a set of M/T 275/50 ET street radials will take care of that. You me and Ryan may run about the same. Ryan runs in the 14.9-15.1 range N/A. On second thought I think I'll just beat you both!!

Post subject:  Update

Just returned from my road trip in the car. Yes it has tags and insurance. :D
I think we are good to go. I have definitely missed out on a month of T & T but at least I can race it.

I still am going to be limited on traction with the 235/70 that are on it but that will change in the future. No leaks in the fuel lines I change, no transmission leaks that I could see, and the rear end still plays a pretty song to you going down the road!!  (Gears are noisy)

I do have a bog when just coming into the throttle lightly, so I will have to try and do a little tweaking on the carb. However, when you smash it to the floor it goes!! that is what is important.

Just so you know it does have legal license on it! :D

Marked both axles while they were out. can verify if they have twisted down the road.

Image
This is what makes both wheels spin. :D

This was the view of the car while my back was doing it's thing!

Rick, what did you set your side bearing preload at ?
Looking foward to meeting up this year at M/D. Haven't seen Lou in years.
Maybe Doug Dutra will send me my Killer Bees T - Shirt before I leave for the east.

Romeo,

According to my FSM you run the one side in till you have .001 backlash. Then you lock that side down. run the other adjuster in and continue to tighten it until you have .006-.008 backlash. I ended up right at .007 and could get the lock in place there. Not exactly sure what a torque value would have been. I wish I would have thought to check it.

Great, I read the same. Also heard to set at 75 ft lbs after setting backlash at .008 . I think that I'm with you and stick to the factory service manual..

Yes, I wasn't real worried because the gear set that I have is basically a worn out rusted up set that my Grandfather had setting in a barn 30 years ago. So they hum and sing a little. Romeo, If I were to guess, I would say that 70# is more than mine were set at. I'd guess maybe 40#. Again, that is just a guess!

Put the correct Ratio Gears in This time Rick!!

Dont go carzy on us and say that there 4.88's when you have 2.41's with a spool.

See you at M/D.
