Another Lemons race is in the books for the Off-Kilter Racing team and ToadRacer! We finished 47th overall out of 81 cars We finished 5th in class C out of 12 cars We completed 191 laps around the 3.15 mile Grand Full Course for a total of 601.65 miles Best lap: 2:47.416 by Lou Madsen. He just barely nabbed it from Brian Mimken who ran 2:47.527 Total on track: 14:31:28.492 The Drivers for this one: Adam Portman Lou Madsen Brian Mimken Chase Simmons Kentucky Poser Crew Extraordinaire: Joe Nelson Greg Ondayko Support Staff: Lori McCubbin Nick Mimken Bradley, Joe,…(?) Overall Winner was Black Flag Racing with 302 laps and a best: 2:34.301 Class C Winner was Duff Beer with 261 laps and a best 2:54.150 The car ran like a top all weekend, but we had a few little issues that brought us off track from time to time. At the end of Adam’s first stint, where he got to practice the Art of Racing in the Rain, it threw the fan belt and we didn’t have the right size to replace it. Joe ran and got one, along with some Rain X. Next the voltage regulator died, so we came back in to replace that. Lou had one on hand. Then the oil drain back tube in the side of the oil pan came loose and required some ingenuity to fix. That kept us off track a little over an hour. The last hiccup was the alternator failed. Poser didn’t pack real good, so Brian ran to the parts store for another one… that didn’t work… So we just ran it, hoping the battery would get us through… Which it did! All the way to the checkered flag… and onto the trailer… then it was done. LOL The car ran, handled and braked wonderfully. Brian purchased and Joe installed larger front brake rotors that really improved the brakes. They were adequate before, but the larger 11” drilled and slotted rotors were the shizzle! We swapped the 500 CFM Holley for a smaller 350 CFM Holley that took some fiddling to get just right, but it feels spot on now. Those 17.0X ¼ mile passes at Clay City will be in the mid to high 16s now for London. It is so much fun racing with a group of friends that get along and support each other so well! Oh yeah,… We won the Index of Effluency award! The judges and organizers were really impressed with how well ToadRacer ran and couldn’t believe it was turning 2:47 lap times. It was the oldest car there (The 47 Plymouth is just a body on newer frame). The I.O.E. (Index of Effluency) is the grand prize awarded at each 24 Hours of Lemons race. Using a proprietary calculation of how bad a Lemons entry is versus how high it finished, race organizers bestow the award on only the most worthy teams. Winners of the I.O.E. enjoy the highest honors (a low bar, we know) of any Lemons trophy. It’s basically what they consider doing the most with the least, which is what Lemons should be all about. You not only get a cool trophy and $601, but a free entry to another Lemons race! That's Lemons in a Nutshell!! ![]() |

You bet'cha! Thanks, Greg for the link to the pictures. I hope to attend one of these events sometime. I should really get a better camera Setup some day... I just keep funneling $ down the rabbit hole for skookum slant parts... There was chatter about the team going to Barber Motorsports Park in Leeds, AL in febuary 2022 That might be a possibility for ya. Looks like ~ 12 hours of driving one way. Greg |

GREAT times. I can't add too much to this report. Brian and I planned out Toadracer Slant Six v2.0 in the car on the way home. I have all parts in stock, with maybe the need to order a regrind cam... Barber should be way fun. The car may make an appearance at London, KY in 3 wks too?? Slant on, Lou |
