Kevin, If you wish, I have an engine assy (225 and/or 170) you could borrow. Also have a new mopar windage tray and hard ware, on the shelf, that I will not be using this year. |

Thanks, Charrlie, I will probably take you up on that.A question that has already come up is how many styles of oil pan and pickup tube there are? |

IIRC, there are at least 6. I know I had to rework my tray a little when it went from the '67-76 pan to my '63-66 pan. |

I think the 66-down pans are the hard ones to fit the tray inside. Actually, you probably don't even need a section of the tray in front of the sump since the pan comes pretty close to the crank up front. Lou |

Quote: Just rotating it in my head, here. I can see accelerating though the junctions but you would sacrifice some quality of the surface at the intersection of the cutting paths.
without having a waterjet here to show everyone, this would be pretty hard to explain (and probably boring to most people), but remember that a waterjet cuts a (usually) round hole, and you would have what is called "peanut-ing" at the corners of a diamond if you don't pull out right........well anyway, the short of it is with waterjet you can get and incredible micron finish, almost like glass if you do it right.......I suppose it is all moot anyway since its hard to explain without a few test pieces to show you.we were cutting them (f-22 panels) out of 1/8 titainium by the way. when you cut that with a waterjet it makes sparks.........I also cut some huge (eight foot diameter) support beams out of aluminum that we were told were going to be part of a spacestation. irregardless, let me know whenever (if ever) you get a six banger tray. |

That is good to know about the early pans. That's not good that the floor comes so close -- windage city -- the oil bounces off the floor and gets caught up again, heating it up and aerating it.

As someone from oversea's who has purchased Kevin's crank scraper, I'd just like to say that I appreciate the fact that's he's here. Great people to deal with and my scraper arrived here in Australia in just 6 days. Surprisingly enough one of my buddies is now pulling in excess of 6700rpm from his slant six. A windage tray would probably be a real bonus for that right about now. |

| Post subject: | Mopar and windage trays, crank scrapers |
I was recently allowed to measure a number of new Mopar engines -- anyone who doubts that the factory is 100% behind this, think again... Long crankcase -- relatively low revving motor, lots of torque, lots of windage. Like the SL6, like the V10 in the Viper. Here is a pic of the OEM crank scraper in the Viper:

think again... Dodge 3.5 liter V6 -- windage tray with incorporated crank scraper -- you can even see the cut-outs for the rod bolts:

Quote: Kevin,
Ditto, and ditto!
I'll be ordering one of your Slant scrapers, and will likely get another soon. Thanks for supporting our engines! Lou |
