OK, that answers that:

Also, the Supra Twin Turbo 6-speed Getrag V160 doesn't use a slip yoke:

Man, you are everywhere, aren't you. :D

It seemed like most of my searches came up with the R154 swap using the same yoke as the W58. Guess I must have read wrong.

Thanks!

OK, I guess this begs the question, how long is the splined section of the yoke? I know some 727 & 904 yokes have a sleeve for an inch or two before you get to any splines, and that's what I was judging by when I decided to stick with the stock Supra yoke initially. Especially when I saw that the u-joint was essentially the same as the 7260. I have no idea how strong a 7260 ultimately is, but I've never had a 7290 in any car I've ever owned (well, until I got my Sport Fury anyway), and that includes my 440 Dart. I think they're plenty strong. Strong enough for what I want to do, at least.

I've got an update on my Jeep Liberty bellhousing misadventures, but I don't think I'll bring it up here since none of it is /6 related. Plus, I need to upload some pics first, and my new computer is fighting me at the moment. Gotta post this while everything is working...

Per page 13 of this link, about 4.4" long (21R-3-3558). Note that the Turbo 400 yoke at the bottom is only 4.7" long.

Hey Greg, whatever happened with the upgraded thrust washer? Did anybody get something going?

Apparently there's a new line of thinking about that issue:

Marlin Crawler's might be the answer.

That bearing retainer looked like a great deal when I saw it a while back, thanks for reminding me about it! Just wish I knew where it installed - internally, I'm sure. My trans has been gone through at some point, but not sure who by. The beauty of salvage parts. At least I know that the car was running when it stopped.

Bearing retainer is on the 5 gear side of the sandwich plate. Read through my factory manual today just to see and it looks like you pretty much have it torn down. At the same time, maybe just dropping the tailhousing and pulling 5 gear off might be workable, manual was for complete disassembly.

Somewhere I think I've seen info on the install, I'll have to search for that again. Might be worth a call to MC's transmission gurus for some guidance, too. If possible without a to tal catastrophic disassembly, it's something I'd like to do before installing the trans....
